Your Impressions on Seasons So now that you have your mitts, paws, and claws on Seasons, what are your takes? Is seasons blazing hot? Or just a plain cold no to buy? Post your thoughts!
I've got a select few pictures for you. I only played the Greenman family in the new Riverblossom Hills neighborhood and I only played through summer...but the rain!!! WOW!!!! Seriously, during the thunderstorm I jumped a few times at the thunder and lightening! And the baby cried through the whole thing unless she was held. (note; Rose Greenman is not pregnant to start, I had Rose and her hubby try for a baby and she was born right before the thunderstorm.) Anyway, few screenshots for you all. They are all pretty self-explainatory, except the one with the green cloud around Rose Greenman's head. Her daughter (Daisy; who was a toddler to start with in the game) just pulled the Pollen Cloud Prank on Rose which caused her to sneeze. Oh, and the last picture is right after their baby was born. Rose is the one on the left, Daisy has the pointy ears.
I've got one more picture to show than it's off to bed. This is the aspiration reward that lets you control the weather called the Weathernaught 57x; it is not a career reward, just a plain old aspiration reward so luckily any sim can get their paws on it. And it is relatively low in the amount of points needed at only 7,000. Careful, if you use it in the red you'll get a rain of fire...I'll just leave it at that. Also; this already is far and away the best expansion pack I've seen and I've only played one household so far and only one out of the four seasons...ha, summer belive it or not. When I saved it was about to transition to fall. The gardening is a lot of fun; and the plant people are pretty darn cool as well. Ahh...so tired, I need to head to bed. Enjoy everyone! Oh, and one more thing, I did get the Prima guide so if anyone has any questions I'd be more than happy to look it up.
Im curious, are those green people your sims, or they are neighbours who came to visit, or they appear during a specific season? Sorry for the silly question, I was really curious to know since my copy will be here in maybe a week or more
I had an email from SBW today (we're both at work) who got Seasons last night and installed it. She said that a patch for Pets is not part of it. How could that happen? I thought the EPs always included patches for previous EPs. Now I have to go get the patch and install it before I install Seasons.I had delayed getting the patch because I assumed that Seasons would take care of Pet bugs. Maybe I should call them fleas.
Well Rose Greenman is a sim that comes with the new neighborhood. However...you can basically turn any of your sims into those creatures with quite a bit of work. With gardening there is pesticide for the bugs that may appear around your plants. Excessive use of pesticides will eventually turn a Sim into a PlantSim. Here are some of the points from the guide and my own thoughts/observations: After adult or elder Sims have personally sprayed plants/trees on their lot 100 times, every subsequent spraying carries a 10 percent chance of turning them into PlantSims. PlantSims have only 3 lifecycles. Toddler, Adult, and Elder. Adult PlantSims can have a baby the conventional way or "spawn" where a toddler will spontaneously appear...that toddler is almost (except looks) a clone of their parent (both genders can spawn). It does say as well that Elder PlantSims have all the same abilities as adult PlantSims...so maybe they can spawn as well??? They also only have 3 needs: Sunlight, Water, and Love...that's pretty self-explainatory. So even though they have a shorter lifespan than other sims, they never need to eat, sleep, or use the bathroom. Only time they need to shower is if they need water and there isn't a pool/hotub or sink around. They can earn skills and have jobs like normal sims; they also automatically get a gold talent badge in gardening and have a stronger effect on plants to produce better quality plants. There are several unique interactions they can do. Spores of Happiness will raise the needs of any sims in their area (effects hunger, comfort, engery, fun and social) and can only be done when the PlantSim is in a very good mood. Spawning is another, already discussed that one. Prank -- Pollen Cloud, and toddlers can Eat Flowers...which satisfies their want for water without damaging the flowers at all. It's realitively easy to cure if you don't want your sims to be a PlantSim anymore, just call up either the Garden Club or the Matchmaker to buy Plantophic-C for $60. PlantSims will keep their gold talent badge in gardening if they transform back to regular sims. If the PlantSim is a toddler you have to wait for them to grow into an adult before they can change back. And that's odd...It should check to see if the game is up to-date and update it if not. I had already installed the Pets Patch and it told me my game was up to date.
Aha! Ill prolly end up deleting my sim, like I did once I really cant wait till I get my expansion though, so I could stop asking questions My biggest question is will custom skintones get sunburnt too or they wont, and if custom clothings (which mostly are more suitable for summer time) will be placed in the correct catalog or something? And if pregnant sims have special winterwear!
You get discounts on greenhouses, ladybug houses, sprinklers and more gardening supplies for more than 25% off. Also the sim will pay less for seeds and fertilizer. Also when you first join they give you money based on the quality of your garden and lawn (you get a score and the money you get is 1.5 X that score). Each adult sim can join separately so this can happen multiple times per household which is nice if you need a money boost. If your score comes above 700 than you get the Toss 'n Wish Drinking Well as a reward object. You can have the club come and review your garden anytime after to try to get above that score later or to get more wishing wells. (they actually can grant wishes; such as money, friends, and love, but can also produce disastrous effects if used too soon after the last wish) Yes, ladybug houses placed near your garden or fruit trees will keep the bugs away, or if you keep your garden in a greenhouse. I don't think moveobjects on will work. I'm not sure if custom skintones will show sunburn or frostbite yet. I didn't leave my sims out in the sun long enough to see that and I just finished fall tonight...about to move into winter. Not sure about pregnant sims having special winterwear yet, but I'm guessing that they have special Outerwear for the winter. Sims will automatically change into outerwear when moving from inside to outside if the weather is cold enough outside. Along the lines of clothing; a new option under change appearance is available. You can have a separate hair style saved for each outfit; or choose to have one hair style for all of them. I'm loving this option.
Wow! That sounds amazing! I just got back from the store, they're only gonna have it next week, meaning I can only get it next weekend since I have to go to university everyday except on weekends My last question (hopefully ) is, out in "Neighbourhood" view, if its season is winter, will there be snow falling over the entire neighbourhood during "Neighbourhood" view, or just snow everywhere? And do try to share some pictures of your sims during winter, preety please
The first question is kind of weird as when you play each lot you might have one lot in winter, one in fall, one in spring and one in summer...so the neighborhood view is off for some of the lots. The neighborhood view will be the same season as the lot you just finished playing. Community lots are the same way. If you leave a lot in spring to go downtown it will still be spring there even if the last time you were there it was fall. And it does say in the Prima guide "the season on the last saved home lot determines both the season and the weather displayed in the Neighborhood view." That said, I don't see any information of it showing that it is raining or actually snowing in the neighboorhood view. But the ground is covered with snow and the trees show the appropriate status as well. And once my sims experience winter I will post pictures! In the mean time... here are two fall pictures taken from the Greenman lot looking out at the neighborhood.
Wow, I like how the leaves have the different tones, Im so jealous!! :hissyfit: Its sad that they always release it later in Malaysia :sob: And thanks for sharing! Are you loving the seasons so far? Ive read some preety good comments on the BBS at the official website
By far the best expansion pack created in my humble opinion. I feel like I've barely even touched the tip of all the new stuff in this expansion and I've played it for about 6 hours or so over the past two days. I was starting to get bored of the Sims and only played once every other week or so; I'm thinking this will keep me interested for a long time and I'll go back to being obsessed with the game!
Oooh...I like the sound of the hairstyle option! How fast do the seasons go (how many days is one season)? I can't remember if I read this or just thought it up (LOL) but can you now play water games in the pool? I want this expansion pack soon! Gonna have to save my money! Oh, how do the pets react to the snow? Can they do certain things? Are the cats all prissy with the snow and stuff while the dogs romp in it?
If I remembered correctly, Seasons change every 5 sim days. Pets can eat snow, play in the snow, and chase butterflies. And cats can eat any fish lying around.
Yep, that's right, 5 days per season; and even toddlers can eat snow. Cats do not. They can also make snow angels, build snowmen, and have snowball fights (water balloon fights in the summer). And they can play Marco Polo in the pool. Sims will even duck under the water and plug their nose to "hide" or sneak out of the pool and creep around the edges in the "sneak" walk. I had a lot of fun watching that.
I haven't done half this stuff yet, I don't want to read too much because I want to discover it for myself! But I have to say I am loving the new "stuff": the women's hairdos look really natural and I love the kitchen knicknacks and new country style stuff ... great new wallpapers. Still haven't located the wishing well or scarecrow. Can you just buy them? Otherwise, I am having fun just figuring it out for myself.
