    Glitch?

Omg someone help. My furniture is gradually screwing itself over. For example, characters can't use a certain toilet anymore and whenever I try to delete it, it says, "can't use object in use" when nobody is using it. Another, two spouses used to sleep on the same bed together but now only ONE is able to sleep on it while the other can't even select an option, it depends on who sleeps on the bed first. The same problem again, whenever I try to delete the bed it says "Can't use object in use." when it's not in use.

Anyone know what's going on? This is my first time playing Sims 2 so I'd really like some help. Do I need to start a new game or is there someway to rectify this?? Thanks.

Wow, first time playing it and you've already got a bugged lot, thats got to be a first. Did you download the lot or did you make it yourself? Just Curious.
The easiest solution would be to move the family out of the house or you could try Pescado's lot debugger from MATY and try forcing error.

Yeah. They like to call me... Lucky.

Um, I just chose an already existing lot and just re-decorated the entire place. I'm not quite ready to make my own house from scratch.

I worked pretty hard on this house and I'd be glum to see it obsolete. It's a pretty big house. I will try and use whatever source you've given me and report back ASA--I can.

OK, try this first, before deleting lot:

hold down Ctrl + Shift + C. A box appears on your screen. In the box, type moveObjects on. Delete the toilet. hold down Ctrl + Shift + C again and type moveObjects off. It's important to turn it off. Save your game.

(I always seem to mess up moveObjects. It could be moveObjectson on, but I think the way I told you is correct. Don't worry, it won't hurt your game, you'll just get an error if you type it wrong. You could also search for it on this forum if you want to make sure ... I'm not the cheat queen, but I used this command to get rid of a townie who'd gotten stuck on my lot.)

If that doesn't work I think there's a way to force errors on the lot. Do a search of this forum. It should be around somewhere ...

I had a toilet like that when I was playing the base game too. It happened when my sim drank two doses of the elixir of life in a row. It hasn't happened since, but my sims also don't drink elixir in two consecutive doses anymore, either.

Further to the excellent advice, above. I wonder if you haven't altered the furnishing layout.

Items that sims use need space to acces them. Som items like showers and stoves are designed so they can't be placed with a wall blocking the "business side" Toilets and beds are not made that way. In practise this means that sims themselves (or their invisible markers - sims navigate by moving from one invisible marker to another ... when they reach an invisible destination marker it is deleted ... and that's likely to be your problem).

If a toilet, chair, or bed is targeted by a sim, the sim will "reserve" his place with an invisible marker. However if other sims are in his way and no alternate route is available he will not be able to get there and the marker is supposed to automatically get deleted. However if you let a goodly number of sims wander, uncontrolled around a large house they will, sooner or later (and it's mostly sooner), all end in in the same bathroom shooing each other out and trying to play punch me, punch you, or engaging in inappropriate romantic behaviour.

Sims are not meant to be left to their own devices. They need controlling ... firmly. ;) Make sure, until you have plenty of practise and experience, that you don't give them too much furniture and leave them plenty of space to get around each other. Bathrooms always benefit from having a second door to allow trapped sims to get out.

It worked! Thank you so much! I knew about the cheat ability but I didn't know the code. You are wonderrrrrrrrful, now I don't have to delete the house.

    Thanks everyone for your advice!
