Jealous Sims My first story thread! This is a true story (in Simsville, anyway ) loosely based on a small group of Sims who's neighbourhood was, along with all its inhabitants, destroyed during a recent power cut. Jake Tang smiled happily as the wedding guests finally left for home, swaying gently under the influence of vintage champagne. That was some party! he grinned to his new wife Athena, his college sweetheart. She just smiled, too tired to answer him. They traipsed upstairs to bed, and fell asleep in each others arms. The next day they awoke bright and early, and feeling more than a little frisky. Athena looked out of the upstairs window onto the small patch of lawn below, and grimaced to herself at the sight of the party streamers and old food lying everywhere. I wish my parents werent so messy. It looks disgusting out there. Whatever must the neighbours be thinking? Jake came and stood next to her, but didnt seem bothered by the view. In fact, he seemed playfully preoccupied with the view inside the bedroom. Why worry what the neighbours think? You know theyre too stuck up to understand what parties are all about. Besides, apart from old Robin Legacy, nobody has a telescope round here. And with me to answer to, they wont be looking through one this way anyway. Athena smiled, despite losing the debate, and laughed at Jake miming the consequences for anyone caught spying on him. Jake suddenly caught her up in his arms and they did an awkward stumbling dance towards the bed, landing in a heap as they fell on it in a fit of giggles, before they were kissing again, which led to Athena woke again just after lunch, pulled herself into a sitting position, and swung her legs out of the bed. She dressed quickly and silently, careful not to disturb Jake, and crept down into the garden to clean up the mess from the party. After a while a few neighbours walked past. She didnt think anything of it, but when she looked up she stopped in her tracks. Someone was watching her. Hello, Athena. Long time no see, he said, his voice edged with the smallest trace of bitterness. Um, hello, Mitch, she stammered awkwardly. Mitch. How could she have forsaken him for another? Why had she let Jake persuade her to quit college to be with him? Mitchs eyes glanced briefly at the bedroom window, then continued to bore into Athenas sad, worried ones. So, the lazy pig still in bed? Athena drew herself up to her full height; despite her feelings for Mitch, she still felt she should defend Jake. Yes, but that doesnt mean hes lazy, she said hoity-toitily. Mitch shrugged. Whatever, he mumbled sullenly. Frowning, Athena crossed her arms and rolled her eyes. Why did you come here? she asked the spiky-fringed one. He looked awkward now, his hands were in his pockets, his head bowed, shoulders dropped. His eyes slowly rose to meet hers, the same vibrant blue as his own. I really didnt think youd go through with it. I thought you loved me, Athena. Glancing nervously at the window upstairs, she sighed. Sometimes things dont work out the way we want, Mitch. You know, when I was young, I used to think that Id marry my first boyfriend Merlin when the time was right, but then that hussy Meadow came along and well, lets just say it wasnt a pretty sight. It was even worse when Merlin told me he hated girls who fight, but I was just so furious with her. But I moved on from that. It was hard, but I did it. I know you can, too. You just have to try, for both our sakes. Now, please go, before Jake finds you here. She turned stiffly and marched up the path as he slunk away, so he wouldnt see the tears in her eyes. She had her new life to live now. She had to leave Mitch behind
You smelled right! Jake was just waking up, oblivious to the events outside in the garden. He squinted his eyes against the sun coming through the window and made his way groggily to the wardrobe, where he changed into his overly smart everyday clothes. He found Athena downstairs, busy cleaning. She leapt out of her skin when she saw him, still on edge from her impromptu meeting with Mitch. Oh, Llamas, you scared me! she gasped. I didnt know you were up. Well, I cant stay in bed all day, can I? Got to help you with the trash pile, he said jokingly, then headed outside to finish tidying the garden read for the new cars delivery in the morning. Athena breathed out slightly with relief. She was still struggling to come to terms with her unexpected visitor, and didnt want to arouse Jakes suspicions. She had always had feelings for Mitch, but somehow hadnt wanted to ruin their friendship, even when he admitted his own love for her. Then Jake came along, and had somehow driven a wedge between them, then he had persuaded her to leave and start a new life with him. She had enjoyed her time at college, but it was still an exciting new start. Suddenly, a strong urge took her body over. She ran to the bathroom Ugh, whats happening to me? she groaned. Jake had come back in the house and heard the commotion. He walked up behind her, and was nearly ill himself at the sight of the toilet bowl. Urgh! I hope Im not going to get food poisoning! he said, recoiling. Come one, lets get this cleaned up. He reached for the toilet brush, but, to Athenas surprise, he handed it to her, and walked out! Her shoulders sagged. Where was the considerate, kind Jake she had known in college? Could someone like that really become so selfish? She shook her head sadly, and resigned herself to scrubbing the toilet clean. When she was done, she found Jake poring over the newspaper. He looked up briefly as she flopped dejectedly into the recliner, then turned his eyes back to the UFO sighted in Strangeville again! article he was reading. You know, that turkey we had yesterday tasted a bit off. Maybe thats the cause of your he stopped in mid-sentence, seeing her wretched expression towards him. Whats wrong? Youve been really off with me today and I dont know what Ive done to deserve it. Athena was at a loss for a suitable comeback. Unfortunately he mistook her silent thinking as tiredness, and the moment was lost as he got up and headed for the kitchen. Athena watched as he slid open the trash compactor and stuffed the paper inside. This will need emptying soon. I think I should hire a maid to keep this place clean, but I suppose it will have to wait for tomorrow, since I wouldnt get one this time of night. If youre really that concerned, you could empty it now and be done with it. Jake looked at her incredulously. Me?! I shouldnt have to do it. Isnt housework your job? I thought we agreed to share the chores? And, if housework is my job, what have you been doing all day? Well, really! You know Im an heir, I dont have to work for a living when Ive got an inheritance the size ofof Your ego? she supplied, with more than a hint of sarcasm. Oh, very funny, darling. You really know how to make someone feel appreciated. You must be awfully tired if youre this grumpy with me. If I were you, I would retire to bed for the night. For a brief moment, Athena debated with herself on what to do. She didnt really want to go to bed; she was just disillusioned by Jake, not cranky through being tired. She thought it would be better if she had some space for a while. Maybe she could go up to bed and pretend to sleep. Jake wouldnt disturb her, and besides, he was still fussing about getting the garage ready for the morning, so it would be a couple of hours before he joined her. That would give her plenty of time to reflect on things. Maybe youre right, she said. Ill see you in the morning
