Display Memory? Hi there im not sure if this is a problem or not on my computer when i do the ea easy info thing next to Display memory it has 16.0 for my computer and for the game your supposed to have 32.0 does this affect the game much? My game still plays the only problem i have is after playing it for awhile it really slows down, and going between lots takes ages. If this needs to be fixed do you have any idea how i can fix it? I have just updated all my drivers as well and it still says the same thing Anyone with any ideas, your help is appreciated Thanking-you Chey
Hi cheys. The video (or display) memory is a fixed amount that cannot be altered except by replacing your display adapter (eg by buying a new graphics card) There's a good chance that a new card will improve your performance but you need to give us more information before more advice can be offered. See the Frequently Asked Questions (in my signature) for the How to get your system specifications ...

Right. Sorry 'bout the delay. Work :( I will assume that your computer hasn't got a AGP or PCI-Express graphics slot. However your computer isn't quite ready for the scrap heap. If you feel that you will be wanting to play The Sims 2 for long enough to make the expenditure economically worthwhile (only you can judge this) you could search the stores for PCI graphics cards (NOTE the huge difference between PCI and PCI-Express (often written as: PCIe)! The PCIe is the latest and best and it will not just NOT work in your computer it wouldn't even fit (probably ) I am assuming that you hail from Australia and after a very quick search, I found this example: http://www.megapc.com.au/product_details_and_order.php?select_part_indx=4230 for around Aus$100. You could also boost game performance by adding another 512 MB of RAM (memory) If you don't feel up to performing open heart surgery on your PC yourself, then try your local stores ... most sellers will fit upgrade components for a small fee
Hi there Thank you for your help but very wierd, i did the easy info thing again today and now it says i have the correct amount of display memory, I dont know whats going on there lol,
it certainly looks that way lol, thank you so much for your help anyways. Do you still recommend getting a better card would it improve gameplay much?
Ay! Um ... er ... Seriously a dedicated graphics card would improve game performance (and appearance) by taking the graphics processing away from the main processor, tereby leaving the main processor to concentrate of the game mechanics. However as you do not have a dedicated graphics slot (you might have, but I doubt it) any improvement will be less than if an equivalent card was fitted in a dedicated slot (AGP or PCIe). Also any card you buy will be no use to when you trade in your current PC. All this amounts to one thing. You need to decided for yourself if the money will be wisely spent; even an expert would be hard-pressed to predict how satisfied you would be with the improvements ... and I am by no means an expert. Sometimes you just have to take a chance and if cash is not easy to come by then you need to consider the risks of being dissatified even more carefully than if you had bags of money under every bed.
