maybe it depends Russ Bear, the burglar, showed up to my business (poker parlor/bowling alley/teddy bear shop) and I thought, oops, get a burglar alarm in there quick, but all he did (after tiptoeing sneakily in) was the same as all the other customers - snack, hot tub, bowl a few lanes, consider buying a teddy, play a little 5-card stud... he eventually left and apparently enjoyed himself. Has anyone been robbed at their business?
I heard you can't be. I've had the maids stop by my businesses as customers. Apparently they always wear those uniforms. Maybe they're part of their skin.
LOL I hurriedly installed a burglar alarm at my first store when I spotted one of the local burglars window shopping and I thought: Yikes! Don't tell me I might get a message at home saying that my store had been robbed. Now I suspect that was just paranoid wishful thinking ... I doubt Maxis even thought of it. SBW Pescado has defined the non playables into two groups. NPC's and townies/dormies All are non playable but townies are "normal" characters that can be moved in, married etc. NPCs are all characterised by special character features (such as uniform) ... marry a maid and she will continue to show up on community and other family lots in her uniform regardless of how you change her clothing with in-game features ... ie: leaving aside hacks. NPCs also always regenerate under Pescado's no townie regen hacks because otherwise there would soon arise a shortage of maids, firemen and cops ... and even burglars. Other examples of NPCs are the NL vampires, divas and PJ sims, Crumplebottom etc. etc. Ooh ... there's a thought ... get control of Mr Big and have him (attempt) to woo and marry Crumblebutt ... wonder if that's even possible ... or even "nice"
What's wrong with that? Better the maid than the nanny ... I married the mailman, Sheldon Hanby, once. He's a real grouch, at least he was in that game, so I wouldn't advise it ... but he was maxxed out on a couple of skills and was good at fixing stuff so it wasn't all bad. It's hard to keep track of who's what. Some you learn by trial and error. Pajama girl, the diva and Mr. Big are all players in my game and lo and behold replacements popped up. Now I have a blonde diva, a blonde Mr. Big and a dark-haired pajama girl. I once killed the dark-haired maid because she wouldn't leave my house, but I don't remember her being replaced. I just got the other three maids at all the other homes, no new ones. And LOL at the Crumplebottom scheme. I doubt very much you can do it. I have a super nice sim (Xander Nova) who once tried to befriend the old bat and she lectured him. He did the crazy sign next to his ear and left her alone. My guess is she has no friends.
I've had various sims try really hard to talk to Crumplebottom and they got nowhere. The talk icon would just disappear and they'd get lectured. Definitely an untouchable NPC.
Who is Mr. Big? Who is the Pajama Girl? Are these your own characters or NPCs I'm missing? Remember, my Miss Crumplebottom only exists as a floating purse! I've never seen her but periodically the purse wanders through a scene. A glitch I see no reason to fix.
Mr. Big wears the red smoking jacket and can always be seen primping. There is also his counterpart The Diva, wears the long black formal dress with the red scarf. Both are very low in nice points. The pajama girl wears the grungy pajama's out on the community lots, low in neat and active points. There is also her counterpart, the guy who wears the grungy pajamas. All four of them came with nightlife as NPCs...no real reason for their existence from what I can see, unlike the Countess and Count and the Matchmaker. They can all be moved in or married, a new one will replace them. Mrs. Crumplebottom is one of those characters that cannot be moved in/married.
I had a Mr. Big (I call him Rico Suave) impregnate a romance sim named Delilah on a date. Their son Trevor is a handsome, outgoing sim. I rather like him. He's married now and has a baby on the way. I can't wait to see what Rico's grandchild is like. Pic #1: Trevor's in the front, dancing with his buddy and stepdad. Pic #2: Trevor's birthday, Mom Delilah celebrating.
Back to the burglars. lol You can infact be robbed by a burglar on your business lot, but it's not a night time break in that you have to worry about it's shoplifting. If you treat him like a normal customer and he decides that Yes! he'll buy one of your products...well....he just takes it. No payment nothing. Just walks right off the lot with it. At least he did on one of my lots. I refuse to let my sims near them when I see a burglar appear on a business lot. Ok..now I'm eager to go and get my Mr. Big, Diva & pajama couple married. LOL I wish the Count & Countess were replaced by new vamps...I had a sim marry the Count and regretted it instantly. *sigh* If only I could make him a NPC again. Oh well. Cass.
Make him stand outside in the sun ... I think you'll find the game will be forced to spawn a new Count who'll be an NPC.
Oh no! KILL the Count? *faints* ROFL Good idea, I'll try that. At the very least I'll be rid of him and his wife and child should be left a little cash. Cass.
If you married the count you should have a replacement already. You maybe just didn't see him. He has a nose like pinnochio's, name varies. Interestingly, if you get the biz perk "call anyone you want" the replacement count and countess, among others, are on your call list, whether or not you've "playerized" the originals. I know because I haven't, and they are. But I've never run into them, which makes me think they're dormant. Whereas the replacement diva is already an NPC, she just gets the dress and the 'tude if you make the original diva a PC. And I remember seeing my new pajama girl before too, just not in her PJs.
Replacement NPCs aren't always the same...sometimes your first Grand Vampire is a Goopy-lookalike, and sometimes it's a Kennedy and Benjamin Long lookalike...it's always different.
I;ve never met my count... just the coutess, who is SO pretty... I wonder what would happen if I gave her vampicillin.
Huh I just realized something...in my old neighborhood... Paine + Goopy = Wakka, who married and had a daughter who married the vampire that looked just like Goopy...weirdness.
All NPC's are repspawned with new ones execpt Grim Reaper and Crumblebottom. You will never guess how many Social Workers and Maids are running around Pleasantview, who are now contrablled because they live in houses, and more keep spawning, Did you know, that once you vamp someone like a maid or a social worker or a nanny or anyone they lose thier job and become townies/downtownies, yep that what I discovered. Meh, my vampires that get vamp look good, especially the males.. And they wear the leather duster that Ange/Spike wears in Buffy/Angel
so has anyone ever married the burglar? how about starting to romance him when he comes and hangs out at my poker parlor?
Well, when he comes to rob you, your sim immediately knows him and is furious at him for a few days, and after that I just make my sim call him up a lot until they're friendly enough for him to accept her invitation to come over, and then...well, you know what happens next.
