Sims 2 working, exp. not Hello. I hope this isn't a double topic, if it is, sorry. I got problems with Sims 2 expansion pack(s). I have Sims 2 original, but expansions aren't. But this isn't a problem, because that combination worked on my old computer (Pentium 4 2000MHz, 512MB DDR, ATi RadeOn 9800SE ...), but on this computer it doesn't. The Sims 2 without expansion packs work, but when I install University(or any other expansion), nothing works, expansion pack, nor the Sims 2. Configuration of this computer: AMD 64 3200+, nVidia GeForce 7800GT, 1024 MB DDR ...). The problem is I can't get into the game. That f****** Microsoft error shows up, that the problem had to close, because there was a problem. Bla bla. Anyone know how to solve the problem?
First you need to explain the problem in greater detail ... And seondly you need to organise your points in a way that they can be read and understood. It's your problem so of course you know what it is, but frankly I can tell little from the above description. Hint ... can you see that I am double spacing my points with new paragraphs? Some questions that require answers: 1) Have you eliminated user data as a possible conflict 2) Have you successfully patched the base game before trying install the EPs (expansion packs) 3) Are you aware that installing an EP alters the format of you user data (saved games files) so uninstalling the EP will not enable you to play the altered saved games 4) Have you tried visiting http://support.ea.com for a solution to your problems 5) Have you got any disc image software running (eg alcohol 100%) what about CD/DVD burning software ... especially Nero DLA I'm giving up before I get question number 1,000,000. Perhaps we can help you better if you concentrate more on your problem than on finding a way to insert crude words ...
1.) What do you mean by User data? 2.) No, haven't tried now, but I have before formatting the disk. 3.) Yes, I'm aware. Installation of EP warned me about that. 4.) Yes, I have, but there so no sollution, that would work for me.The problem is described here. 5.) Yes, I am, otherwise I wouldn't be able to run the game, because there's no crack.
User data is saved game files/downloads/custom content - stuff added by user after installation is completed. Still waiting for a complete description of the problem describing it in such a way that it is possible for the reader to imagine how it occurs. You must understand that you have an unusual problem ... so you need to describe properly. Or maybe you have a really common one but you have described it so badly no-one can understand it (not even me and I have a degree in talking bollocks ) I really don't have a clue what -- exactly -- is going wrong. I need the: The What (wossup) The When (wenzitappen) The How (howzitendzup)
1.) It is a microsoft windows error about shutting a program down, because an error occured. And there are two options, Send error or Don't send(something like that, I have another language set, so I don't know exactly). It shows up before I can get in the game. The image shows up in the middle of the screen: 2.) Quickly after I click icon for University. 3.) Quickly. But, nevermind, because I already fixed the problem but I fixeded it unwittingly. The emulation settings in Daemon Tools must be set to OFF. So, if anyone else will have that problem, let them now that.
LanceVance--according to what I'm reading, you're getting the "An Unexpected Error has Occurred." Message. You can actually read what the error is when you get that. Also, when Mirelly asked you about the patch. I didn't quite understand the answer. Did you do the patch for this installation? University will check for that. And EA recommends moving ALL custom content out of the files before installing any EP.
Like I said at first. Disc image software is not liked by the game's anti-piracy measures and is the main cause of most problems.
It would have been nice if I had seen that last bit of his message..LOL Anyway--along with that--Alcohol 120 seems to cause problems, too.
Like I said, I fixed the problem. Emulation in Daemon Tools must be set to OFF. If not, that error shows up: (It's for microsoft word, but just to know ...)
