Just one small question. i have been away and not played on the sims 2 for a while. i now want to play on it but am unable to find the disk. i was just wondering if i bought an expansion pack would it be that disk that i insert into the game or would i still need the sims 2 disk. thanks xxx it's on the PC that i play
It really depends. With some of the EPs, you have to put in the original disc before it will finish installing the EP. It does something called "Checking to see if installation is up to date" (or words to that effect.) When I've done a reinstall, it almost always asked for TS2 with TS2U (Uni), but would do its checking without that on the others. However, since usually I've done a complete reinstall the same day as I installed the EP, it may have looked at the date when I installed the base game and figured it was recent enough that I wouldnt' have given away or sold the base game. Once installed, the EP disc is the one you use at least. You could try it and see, but I can't guarentee it would definitely work. (See discussion above.)
Hopefully you'll find the disc. (It's less expensive that way.) But as I said before, if TS2 is already installed on your computer, you can try the EP to see if works. (I know that TS2U does require you to put the TS2 disc in. But the others may use other methods to insure that you own the discs.)
Well, as long as you have The Sims 2 installed in your PC, I guess that if you install an expansion, all you need to have in order to play the game is the CD of that expansion. I'm not too sure if the case is the same with all the expansions, but anyway, I hope you find your The Sims 2 CD.
