Order of installation I have The Sims 2 and Im going out this weekend to buy an expansion pack. Is there a order of installation I must follow. Like Sims 1 Thanks
If you mean the order in which you should install the EPs, it should go like this: Uni, Nightlife, then OFB. Just the order they came out in. And then you download the OFB patch, or if you're not getting that one, the patch for the most recent EP you're getting.
Actually there is no order for installing the expansion packs of the Sims 2. It's not the same as The Sims in which you need to install the expansions in an order. All you have to do in The Sims 2 in order to play the game if you have expansions installed is for you to use the CD of the last expansion pack you installed. So let's say you have Nightlife, University, and OPB installed in this order, you need to use your OPB cd to run the game. ^_^ So you don't really need to buy the University expansion just so you could play the other expansions, but it's up to you if you want the University expansion as well.
THat's not true, Aki!!! There are so many people who install in the wrong order and they have lots of game glitches. They either uninstall and lose everything they saved, or live with the glitches. I don't know if you know from experience or from other people, but either way you'll find out very quickly that you HAVE to install in the right order.
Actually, the 'official' word from Maxis is that there is no need to install in the order of release as they EPs should work in any order - the Sims 2 EPs were apparently designed to be installed in any order, unlike The Sims 1. HOWEVER, Maxis also acknowledges the potential for game problems and advise installation in the order of release if at all possible, though they do say that it's merely to be on the safe side. Personally, I would always install in the order of release but that's just me.
