Problem running Sim City 4 Deluxe I just installed Sim City 4 Deluxe Edition, the installation seemed to work, but when I left my computer and came back, it just showed and image of the bridge (I'm guessing its the intro movie). Since it most likely froze, I just terminated the process "Sim City 4" on windows task manager, and tried starting the program again, from the start menu. The same thing happens, whenever i try opening it it just shows the one image of the bridge and nothing else, should I try reinstalling? Thank you, Jon.
The bridge indicates that the game is loading, and will dissappear just before it goes into the intro video. Give the game about 2-3 minutes before terminating the load.
I had the excact same problem. Some time ago I got a virus and was forced to delete everything on my harddrive. Then I wanted to reinstall the game and it kept asking me if I wanted to install a certain file, called EP1.dat???? So I said yes, because it probably needed to be in the game, right, but as I was starting the game, I too, just saw the bridge and then...nothing. And it worked fine without the patch, so...
Run Disk I had this happen to me once. Turned out I had forgotten to put the runtime CD in the drive. It didn't display the usual message it just hung. I think I had to reboot to get SimCity to recognize that the CD was now in the drive. Good luck.
i have the same problem, can someone help me? i installed the patch but the intro image is still frozen
Ive figured out, that the EP1.dat file is connected to the Rush HOur part of the game, meaning its on the disc one, meaning because there is a fault in disc one, I cant install the game again. Thanks EA! Oh, and you patch called Ep1.dat doesnt work for this problem, even though your support team says it does.
