When I Import Something into the Game, it wont show up in the game

I've made a few things in Bodyshop, but whenever I click "Import to Game" I can't find it in the game. Can anyone help? Also, how do I show my work on World Sims?

    Thanks. :)

Import to game shouldn't be needed with BodyShop. If you make it in Bodyshop, it's automatically in the game the next time you start up the game. (It's why the game and Bodyshop can't run at the same time. They share files. Same with HomeCrafter.)

The only "import to game" that comes to mind with BodyShop is when you finish something. But if it's clothing, you won't see it until your Sim buys it at one of the Community Lots. Unlike TS1, the dressers in TS2 only have what has been bought, not everything available in the game.

Makeup and head/face accessories won't be seen until you do a "change appearance" with the Mirror (or if you have the right EPs, the vanity and makeover chairs.)

As to how to show what you've done here, you make a .jpg of your Sim clothing and upload it using the "manage attachments" attach files. Or you can put them on a Photobucket account and put the URL in your message (if you've already used up your quota of file uploads on the site.)

If you're talking about sharing the actual item, you talk to Manager Josh about it, or put it on the exchange and put the URL for that exchange item in a message here.

Where are you looking for them? Are you trying to find where the files are (as things like clothes that you make in BodyShop are not in the downloads folder but in the SavedSims folder) or finding them in the community lot clothes rack?

I was looking in the store clothes rack.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you.

I suspect that you haven't enabled the custom content. Even things you make in BodyShop won't show up unless custom content is enabled.

There are two places where that is done. One is enabling it when the program first opens. You should get a dialog box at that point. If you don't, then open the game options area and toggle the box which says "Display Custom content dialog at opening" (although you won't see it again until the next time you open the game).

While you are there, you need to toggle the "display custom content in catalog" box. (Otherwise the stuff won't show up on the racks nor will other custom content show up there or in buy/build.)

You'd have to say "enable custom content" when you restart the game, then you'd have to restart the game *again* for it to actually be enabled.

Hopefully this will finally get you going as it's the last thing that I can think of which might be preventing you from getting your Bodyshop creations to show up.

Sorry it has taken so long. I haven't been on. I found the second button you said, but not the first one... It confuses me. XP

I'm sorry I didn't ask this before: which EPs do you have? With the earliest EPs, the "enable custom content" screen doesn't popup when you first enter the game. However, Maxis realized that there were a lot of people saying their games didn't work, when it was because they had a conflicting piece of custom content (especially mods/hacks and new meshes.) So, they made it so that when you first start the game after installing, you have to see what it's like *without* the possibly conflicting content. After that they let you put in whatever you want.

It shouldn't affect Bodyshop things, though. Those seem to show up anyway unless you're missing a mesh for a piece of clothing or the like.

I don't know... I'm not even sure what EPs are...

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you.

EPs are the "expansion packs" for the game. This comes in a few forms: the CD version (which requires 4 discs to install), the DVD version (which requires one disc to install) and the Holiday version (which is like the CD version but has the "holiday" stuff included.)

TS2 is the base game required for the others to work.
The first EP was University, then Nightlife, followed by Open for Business and most recently Pets.

There are also SPs: stuff packs. Glamour, Family fun and Holiday are the ones so far.

I hope you got your Bodyshop stuff to work finally as I think I'm out of ideas at this point.

I don't have any EPs or SPs.

If you are using only in game outfits as the basis for your BodyShop creations, they should show up in your game the next time you start it up. If you are using meshes from other creators (socalled "3rd Party content") then you may not have the needed EPs for it to work. Some of the new made meshes will work for the base game or with any of the EP/SPs. Some will only work if you have specific EPs. You'd have to check on the website where you found the meshes.

I'm really out of ideas at this point. Perhaps the only way to proceed now is to start at the beginning. Go to the official site and read through the "The Sims 2 Body Shop Hint Book by Prima Guide" and "The Sims 2 Body Shop Tutorial" found on the help page: http://thesims2.ea.com/help/index.php?pid=Help. Perhaps we're missing some step that I can't think of. (It's been about 2 years since I used TS2 basegame BodyShop.)

    Good luck!

Hmm... I think I need the mesh. I don't have it or EPs. Thanks for all the help!

Well, that certainly would keep it from showing up!

Now all I have to do is find a place to download the mesh...

That can be *quite* a problem! I usually just delete the ones which don't have their meshes. If I liked the outfit, then hopefully I'll find it again, but grab the mesh at the same time!

If the mesh is a Maxis one from an EP/SP, then the only way to get it is to have the EP/SP.

But there are a number of sites which have good meshes that are used frequently in the community. TSR, SimChic, MTS2, Serasims and 2-for-u are the most common. (Another one is becoming common, but their website name is the same as an "adult only" product so it shouldn't be mentioned here or on the official site.)

I forgot some of my other favorites for having meshes (because they aren't as frequently added:( Linda's Sims 2, TS2 Creations, Sims2Fashion Barn, Pronupsims and Parsimonious.

This one may have more, but I haven't fully explored it yet: Neighborhood99.

Sorry I haven't linked them for you, but you can probably find them if you go through the "Community Discussion" messsage that we've been using as a repository of site we like: http://forums.worldsims.org/showthread.php?t=5543
