A townie shoplifted in my store!

A townie came into my shop and stole a statue!! My Sim showed the townie the object, gave her a sales pitch, and then she promply took her shopping bag out of the store without visiting the cashier. I know that she actually took the statue because there was a restocking sign in the statue's place. The statue's replacement value after restocking (about 4,000 simoleans) showed in my financial ledger, but I had a huge deficit since the townie (Tasho Go, by the way) did not pay for the statue. I am outraged!! Has this happened to anyone else?

Yeah, I had my dude Nick open up an electronics store and he had finally completed the robot he was working on. Put a prize tag on it, and the same thing happened. Some townie just waltzed out of there!
    Can you stop them?

That happened to one of my sims when I opened a store with them. The enraged owner ran after the townie and started yelling at him, but didn't get the objects back. The owner was furious with the townie and any time he came onto the lot after that, the owner would get into fights with him or chase him off... Hmm, maybe if you get a dog with Pets, the dog will go after them for you...

LOL I had that burglar come into one of my lots (as a normal customer...he wasn't 'sneaking' around like they do when they break in) and nick an item too.

    Cass.
