Need expert help. How badly will TS2 run on my system? Processor: Name and speed (MHz/GHz) - Intel Celeron M processor 1.40 Ghz System Memory RAM (MB/GB) - 502 MB RAM Windows Version (98/XP etc.) - Microsoft Window XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Free Hard Disk Space - 55.1 GB Total Hard Disk Space - 74.5 GB DirectX Version - DirectX 9.0c Display Adapter (Graphic/Video Card) Name & Model Number - Mobile Intel 915GM/GMS.910GML EXPRESS Display Driver Name and Version Number & date -ialmrnt5.dll version: 6.14.0010.3984(English) 12/13/2004 10:02:54 Approximate Total Video Memory - 128 MB I hope that this was all of the information needed to help me. I just want to know how badly TS2 will run on my present system and if there are any ideas that you have for me to help make things run more smoothly.
In my opinion, you are probably barely cutting it. If you scale back a lot of the graphics, you should at least get some playable gametime. As to make things run smoothly, try adding some additional memory to your laptop.
Okay, tried to find a thread that was pretty similar to what I want rather than starting a new one... looking to buy a new computer for an xmas present to myself and my bf. Needs to be able to run World of Warcraft and The Sims 2 smoothly. I found this one, and it looks alright to me. Have a graphics card 6800 extreme so I figure I'll just switch that over to the new system rather than focus on the graphics card in a new system, also we have a second hard drive which will probably switch over to the new system, another 250GB so that will double our space. Can anyone tell me if this system will do the job I want? oh and also it's an HP, i've had bad experiences with their printers, can anyone tell me if their computers are any good? Also says it has Windows Media Center. I'm a little confused because I don't see anywhere that it has Windows XP, does Windows Media Center need XP or does this computer not have XP?? Sorry to sound like a NOOB but I don't know much about computers and I can't tell my bf that we're getting the computer, supposed to be a surprise ^_^ Product Features Processor - AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 4200+ for TRUE Multi-tasking 2.2GHz 512KB L2 Cache / 2GHz System Bus NVidia GeForce 6150LE 2.0GB PC3200 DDR SDRAM memory ((2x1GB for ultimate performance) (expandable to 4GB) 250GB 7200RPM SATA hard drive Double Layer 16X DVD+-R/RW drive with CD writer capabilities and LightScribe Technology - Up to 16x DVD+R, 8x DVD-R, 4x DVD+-RW, 2.4x DVD+R DL, 16x DVD-ROM, 40x CDR, 24x CDRW, 40x CD-ROM Processor, Memory, and Motherboard Hardware Platform: PC Processor: 2.2 GHz AMD Athlon Number of Processors: 1 RAM: 2000 MB RAM Type: DDR SDRAM Hard Drive Size: 250 GB Type: Serial ATA
That computer should be fine for TS2 (as long as your downloads folder isn't too big.) I can't comment on Warcraft as I don't play the game. (My husband has it but doesn't play it much and never plays it online.) Windows Media Center is a form of Windows XP. One extra comment: that system is not as upgradeable as it seems. Unfortunately many of the AMD motherboards are not DDR2 memory capable. And other than expanding the number of gb of memory to the maximum of 4 (which won't help until you have replaced the Windows Media Center with Vista), you can't really expand your memory. The newest motherboards for AMD are starting to put in DDR2 capability, but since yours says "DDR PC3200", that would indicate it's not set up for DDR2. (My current motherboard has that problem too, mores the pity.) Thats the problem with preChristmas sales. In the coming months we'll be seeing much better systems than this dropping their prices as the computer companies come up with the newer stuff. (For example, I recently got a Geforce 7950 GT on sale for $250. That's far less than I paid for my Geforce 6800 AGP year before last or my Geforce 7800 PCE last year.)
