Some Gameplay Questions 1. The Elixir of Life gives me 15 years extra life, can you buy another after you use the first one, and another to stay young as long as you like? 2. My sim is engaged and soon to be married, If I continue to drink the Elixir of Life, will the sim companion age older than my sim? 3. Once the sims marry and have kids and I let my sims get old and die, will the kids inherit the house even if like their in college or live on their own? 4. A dog ran into my house univited and I chased it away but it's now in my relationships thingy... why? And how can I get rid of it? Or do I have to be friends with it?
Hi Tima. In answer to your questions: 1. Yes, you can 'buy' the Elixir of Life again and again, if you have the necessary Aspiration points. This is how I play my game - I ALWAYS use the Elixir to keep my sims from getting to become elders. So, yes, you can keep your sims in their current age group forever. Not sure about using it as an Elder though as I have never played an Elder family anyway, and their lifespan is not a fixed number of days - death happens within a range of days. 2. Yes, if only one sim uses the Elixir, then the other sim will continue to age. Often, one of my sims has enough points for the Elixir and uses it, yet the other sim has to wait a few more days to get enough points, therefore for a time, their ages are different. I just make sure that they never get too close to the transition day to another age group. 3. Not sure about this as I haven't had a sim die on me yet. I don't know about inheriting the house (can someone else clarify this please?), but I DO know that the family members receive some sort of financial gain and the amount depends on the relationship to the deceased sim, AND what state of Aspiration the deceased sim was in when he/she died. 4. Whenever your sim interacts with another sim or pet, there will be an icon in the relationships panel. I would just ignore it - in OFB, my business sims amassed dozens of relationship icons from sims they met even while attending another business lot as a non player character at that time. Nothing I can do about it (or is there? can someone clarify this for me? )- I just ignore it. So no, you don't have to be friends with the dog your sim chased away. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
Thanks a bunch hugzncuddles, you were a great help, now I know I need to get married fast or we'll be totally different ages sooner or later... lol And I'll take your advice and just ignore the random people and pets that pop up in my relationship panel, wasn't really a problem, just didn't know what it was about. Hope someone can tell us about the inheriting the house thing, I'm, umm, dying (lol) to know.
I can answer that question for you. The only thing sims can "inherit" are businesses if you have the Open for Business expansion pack. Otherwise the only way for them to "get the house" would be if they were already living in that house when the individual passed away. Now if a Sim does die and he's the only one left living in that particular lot, the house, including all the furniture, unwashed dishes, unmade beds, and the urn/tombstone of the passed sim will remain in that house. So once your Sim gets out of college, if they have enough money, they can purchase the house and move back into it just as it was before.
Thanks for the quick answer jupitershana, guess I'll have to make sure the kids live in the house to get it. btw, as I said, my sim is engaged but now that I'm further in my career path I'm making new friends and found someone I like better. Can I break it off and date the new sim? This is terrible if I can't... I don't want to marry them anymore. Ooooohh Noooos, they have a crush on me now, what am I to do?
Yes, they can break it off. The easiest way? Just make the your Sim flirt with the new crush in front of the sim he/she is engaged to. Then argue with them and there should be an option to break up with that sim. Then your sim is free to date and get engaged to the other sim.
Yes, yes, yes, great news... thanks again jupitershana!! New question... Oh so if sims are living together or married they can't share an elixer dispenser? I mean, if one buys it, can't both use it?
Thanks for the replies Chee-Z and Lynet!! Now I've just gotten a gift from a date, an Electrodance Sphere by ExtremeCO and they left it outside. Can it stay outside without somebody stealing it because I have no room in the house? Of do I have to build a room for it? (great gift btw, after flowers I wasn't expecting this!!) Suggestions? And is it really worth it to buy a car early (have 18,000 saved), I mean, are there lots of benefits? Should I expand my present lot or buy another home later, and if I exand on this lot am I able to sell the house if I want to buy another and move or do I just lose the money I spent?
Erm, I don't really have a definite answer for that. It really depends on how often you go downtown. If you hardly step out of the house, then no, it would be a waste of money (and space, considering the fact that a car comes with a garage ) There's always the yellow taxi for you to call and go downtown in. Of course, that would be for people who go out less often. Because investing a huge sum into getting a car and never use it is just stupid Therefore, it all comes back to how often your sim goes downtown ) Think it over and then make a wise decision (of course, with the money cheat, I don't really care - I just go for it! ) And benefits? No no. Not a lot. You can only travel with it, or woohoo and do some unimportant things in it :bandit:
Whether you expand your current house or buy a new one is a decision only you can make. Yes you can sell the houses, regardless of the condition they're in or what you've done to them and any improvements made will increase the value of the house when it's sold. If you want to keep any possessions you'll have to put them in the sims inventory because otherwise everything in the house (and the house itself) will be sold. Cass.
Thanks Cassiepeia Nice to know I can sell my house, but can I really put that large DJ Booth, and Electro Gizmo in my inventory... wow. I wonder if the inventory has a limit? Oh well, Ill be finding out soon I'm guessing...
