    Monitor Turns Off After Gameplay

    Hi,

My problem is that every 10-20 minutes or so of playing, the monitor will go into Standby with the game still running. I can get back into game if I press the Windows Key, then opening the Sims 2 window again. However it will just shut-off and I have to do this process again. Sometimes I can't even re-open the window without it happening again.

    My computer specs are:
    1. Processor: Intel Pentium 4 2.66GHz
    2. System Memory RAM: 512MB (Pagefile;725MB used;523MB Free)
    3. Windows XP SP2
    4. Free Hard Disk Space : 52GB
    5. Total Hard Disk Space : 75GB
    6. DirectX Version : 9.0c
    7. Display Adapter (Graphic/Video Card) : ATI RAEDON 9200LE
    8. Approximate Total Video Memory : 128MB
    9. Game Detail : Sims 2 DVD Version with Pets and Open For Business
    10. The monitor will turn off after a while of gameplay, and then happens everytime I get back into the game. Usually happens when changing lots.

    Me too

I have the exact same problem! It usually freezes when clicking something or changing the sim with I play. And I also have the same method in "fixing" it: back to Windows with alt+tab. It happens with all graphic options, but not so often with lower resolution and awful graphic quality.

    My computer specs are:
    1. Processor: Intel Pentium 4 1.60GHz
    2. System Memory RAM: 512MB (Pagefile;856MB used;393MB Free)
    3. Windows XP SP2
    4. Free Hard Disk Space : 12,5GB
    5. Total Hard Disk Space : 38,2GB
    6. DirectX Version : 9.0c
    7. Display Adapter (Graphic/Video Card) : RADEON 9200 SE FAMILY
    8. Approximate Total Video Memory : 128MB
    9. Game Detail : Sims 2 DVD Version with Pets, Open For Business and University. Christmas item set. (Language: Finnish)
    10. The monitor will turn off after a while of gameplay, and then happens everytime I get back into the game. Usually happens when changing sims. Never with lots. Also stripes of black over sims and objects every time when hovering over objects.

    Update:

I don't have this problem anymore. Also those black and white stripes are now gone and I'm able to set graphic quality to best level available. I downloaded and installed driver from AMD's site (well, it seems that I had some microsoft's own, old driver) and now it's working well :)
