    Updated Policies @ SimGames.net

<div style="color: #000080; padding: 2px;">Updated Policies @ SimGames.net</div><div style="font-size: .9em; margin-bottom: 12px; border-bottom: 1px solid #000080; padding: 2px; border-top: 1px solid #000080;">Sunday, June 25, 2006 by ManagerJosh</div><div style="font-size: 1em;">During the last few months, I've observed an increased number of sites using loopholes in our policies to avoid advertisements and while the intentions were that majority of traffic would be done through sites and not through forums, it has become apparent that people are starting to become forum centered and we're taking a pretty big hit.

With that in mind, a few ad policy revisions are going to effect starting the Winter 2006 Season.

Ad Policy Revisions would be as followed:
    a) All web pages, excluding chat room pages, splash pages, and/or pages with no content, are required to have SimGames.net Ads. We don't care which style of ads are used, so as long as the ads are clearly visible without scrolling and placed within the content areas. Banners are required to be on the top 1/3 of the page on an 800x600 resolution WITHOUT SCROLLING.

    b) Competiting Ads: We don't mind you making a few dollars here and there, however if it affects us in the long run, we need to do something about it. For the moment we will allow limited competiting ads, so as long as OUR ads receive priority. SimGames.net Ads must always have more visible than your ads. Placement must not directly compete with our ads. If your site is running Google Ads or another form of targetted advertisement, please be aware that we may require you to remove them as they may potentially interfere with future targetted advertisement. We don't anticipate asking you to remove them, but please note you've been warned.

    Site Policies:
    a) Pornography: I've have a few grey areas in this matter. After further consideration, I've come to the general conclusion that porn, whether hosted or not hosted on this server, poses a serious problem for us in the future and could open potential problems for us in the future. Therefore effective in the updated policy revisions, pornography is prohibited to be link to, whether the files are on this server or not. I understand a few of your sites uses this material to attract visitors. However I feel it necessary to point out that we at SimGames.net do not want to be responsible for feeding this pornographic addiction, directly or indirectly.

    b) Remotely Hosted Content: We have a few members who have remotely hosted content services on SimGames.net. While we don't mind having them around, a few issues needs to be resolved. Capping is now going to be required for these sites. If a particular file is using too much bandwith, the file must be removed from this server or temporarily halted. Please also frequently delete files that are not being used. If a file is huge, please have the file link directly to your site rather than have it readily be hotlinked from this server.

I think this sums up the majority of the problems. Only a few of your sites are affected by these policy revisions. While we will make execptions on extremely RARE circumstances, these policies will go into effect Winter 2006.</div>

I bet I have no problem with the others, but with the policies (a), does it mean that every screenshots that's poped-up needs to have the advertisement as well for that?

I guess there's the only section (while I called an image for the screenshots in my page) that doesn't have the address at the moment, because we directly called the .JPG file format...

So, for the .JPG format, we have to use an advertisement codes or changing the whole PHP codes like calling image with PHP codes (something like viewimage?image=1) with the advertisement below it?

I'm kinda worried on this, so I hope to see your reply about this, I don't hope the site's doing anything wrong this time!

*P/S: If I want to pay some money for your hosting (I know the site, KOEI Warriors used too much bandwidth and space, I think I should be responsible to pay a little to you guys), what should I do, I'm in UK now and you can mail me with this problem --> ff_xi@hotmail.com

    Thanks!
