Sims 2 will not load up

I downloaded a bunch of custom content and loaded it up in game and it loaded up fine. I created a few characters and it was running fine. I turned off the game and then tried to turn it back on and it wont load up. I get the splash screen then nothing happens.

Ive downloaded the recent patch and that didnt help.

Ive tried removing the whole neighborhood I was using and that didnt work,

Ive tried removing all the custom content and that didnt work either

Ive tried reinstalling Seasons, that started up the game but once i put my backed up files I got the same problem.

I dont know what the problem could be. I dont understand why it would load up the first time but not the second.

You've reinstalled Seasons you say? Is Seasons the only ex. pack you got or have you got others?

If you've got others, try reinstalling the whole game (Sims 2 as well) and maybe that will help. If it doesn't then maybe you're better off without the 'custom content'?

edit: After searching around a bit on this site I found a link that might help you. Here ya go and good luckies!

You need to try and isolate the problem. Try reinstalling again, but this time dont add your downloads folder back in, just all your other folders and see if it fixes the problem, if it does then you'll have to start putting files back into your downloads folder gradually and load up the game each time you do. It's a long process but sometimes you just get a bad file.

i think i have a similar problem, when i try to play the small sim screen appears (as it should) but after it goes away the game should start, but it does nothing at all.

I had only pets and loads of downloads when it first did this, yet now i've wiped those out and tried to just install the sims2. That didn't work. My taskmanager shows the sims running, but it's not doing anything.

I tried installing the same game on another computer and it worked fine. Can someone help me to find a solution here? please?
