    Dr. Vu's Cosmetic Thingie

If I make one of my sims get plastic surgery using the Show Business Career reward, will that sim's children have the genes that the sim had before or after he/she got plastic surgery?

I hope this question makes sense! Thanks in advance!

Wow! what a great question. I just wish I knew the answer for you. It's kind of like if your sim starts out with blonde hair and changes it to red, will her kids have a chance to get the red hair too?

I'm pretty certain that the the changes are strictly cosmetic and don't affect genetics. Just like in RL, plastic surgery affects only the patient who is getting the nose job. All children will probably inherit the big nose.

I believe the same is true for hair color. If you create a sim with blond hair and change it to red later on, the genetics are for blond hair.

But I haven't actually done controlled experiments. I'm just passing on what I've heard here and there.

what about fatness if the mother is fat while pregnant will the child be fat when it grows into a child ot toddler whichever has the option to be fat?

I don't think that fat vs. thin is based on genetics in the game. I believe that exercise and eating right are what the programmers intended as a message to us all about controlling weight , regardless of what might be true in real life. If only RL were that simple.

By the way, sim kids build up skill points pretty fast. Swimming and using the punching bag earn them body points quickly, I've noticed. Of course, I raise all my toddlers on Smart Milk.

I don't think they are... See, I changed my sim's hair from brown to blonde and her baby turned out to have blonde hair. But then again, Grandma had blonde hair when she was young...

Now you've got me curious. I use custom hair almost exclusively, so now I'll have to pay more attention.

I know that Errol Waring's three daughters were born with red hair. Their mother Kate has red hair. She was a townie that Errol married. I used custom hair when I originally created Errol, and I wonder if that means he had no genetics for hair at all. So the game defaulted to Mom's hair.

I think one day I might do an experiment to see what the genetics of the baby are like after being born to a mom who had plastic surgery before getting pregnant.

As far as the hair-I dont think that changing your sims hair color can affect the hair color of the baby.

Either way, it's not like it's hard to change the colour of your sim's hair. So I guess it really doesn't matter, seeing as sims can just look in the mirror and get a whole new hairstyle and colour!
