I broke the cd!!! Hi! I am Maria, I'm Greek and I have a huge problem! Being the big idiot that I am, I went and left the cd from the sims nightlife on the bed and then I forgot, I stepped on it and I broke it!!! Now what am I gonna do? I can still play, because the last expansion I installed was the seasons, but I was thinking about uninstalling it... Can someone please help me? I want to know if there is a way to play without the cd or if there is a way to prevent the sims from freezing and getting heatstrokes so i can leave Dustin and Cassandra cuddling in their porch when the children are at work and the granchildren at school...
Ooh, my bad! The official advice for getting replacement discs is here Unfortunately the official Sims 2 site is "down" this afternoon, so I can't find details for you, specific to Greece. I went to the EA Games gloabl wesbite but there doesn't seem to be a link to a Greek section ... and searching for Sims 2 Greece just brings up results for the Greek fraternities of the Sims 2 University expansion. I suggest you consult your game manual for support details relevant to your local. As for Seasons and heatstroke. Why not set the season as Spring to all year round, then no-one should overheat or freeze. Failing that just get Dustin and Cassandra to do their lovey-dovey stuff in the air-conditioned splendour of indoors. The seaons setting menu is gotten to from the Seasons button at top left of the neighborhood view screen.
The thing is that I couldn'd find any of the expansion packs anywhere in my town and I ordered them from e-bay... They didn't come with a manual... I know that there is no greek section... So I need to do what I would do if I had lost the serial number, right? The thing is that the EP's belong to my brother and he installed them... I don't know if he register them... If he didn't?
Check out this guy: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=188872 He has a piece of software that locates the serial numbers on your computer. I'd lost a couple of my books/cases and worried that I'd be in trouble if I had to re-install. So I used this software, located my numbers and wrote them down. I also verified the numbers against records I hadn't lost, and they were all valid.
Wow, thanks Lynet! I don't usually lose my serial numbers, but if I ever do then I'll know which thread to turn to. Here, have some rep for that.
I'm sorry, but I think there has been a misunderstanding... Up until 2 days ago I played only the Sims 2... And in order to play I needed to have the first cd in the computer (my english suck sometimes...). Then I received the expansion packs, I installed them all and before I started playing I decided to un-install some of them and start playing one at a time... So, now I want to play nightlife... Don't I need to have the first cd in the computer? I don't understand why you talk about the serial number... Isn't it that code on the package that you need to put before you start the installation??? PS. Sorry for being such an idiot...
You have to use the last expansion disk you installed to run the game. If night life is on a separate disk then there should be no problems. You just can't reinstall it. Or if you broke the night life disk and have un-installed the whole lot. Then reinstall everything except night life. This sounds confusing I know but I'm a little confused about what you are trying to say. If you have broken the nightlife disk and dont have seasons installed, then yes you would need the night life disk. I would reinstall seasons and try to play that way. What ever you do you need an other expansion in after nightlife. As long as you havn't un-installed nightlife
Yes, we seem to have misunderstood. I honestly thought you said you needed to find the serial numbers and could not, because your brother had not registered the games. Or something like that. Anyway, if you have installed the expansion packs, then play the game using the CD from the last expansion. If Seasons was the last EP you installed, then put the Seasons CD in the drive and play the game. Even though you have the Seasons CD in the drive, you can still play the Downtown from Nightlife, the University, and any other EPs that you have installed. It isn't necessary to uninstall Seasons in order to play Nightlife. Hi, Odinmoon. Looks like we're both trying to answer the same question.
Ok, thanks! Can I ask one more question? I've played Sims for like a week before the expansion packs arrived... And I was doing allright! Except the social service took Beau and the new baby and Brandi went crazy, but then she got married and left Dustin alone with another new baby, Mortimer died of hunger, Cassandra cheated on Don, but then he died and she went crazy, Dustin got married and dumped Dirk and the Pleasants got a divorce... But now it's ok, Dustin married Cassandra who is no longer crazy they leave together with Beau jr and Alexander and they're about to have their first baby... Do you honestly think I'll manage to play if I install 2 expansion packs? Oh, and how much more stupid could I be?
Sure, you'll do alright. I'd only suggest that you explore the complications of the new EPs with a family of sims that you don't have an emotional attachment to. Play with a family that you don't mind if someone dies or gets divorced. Do that until you get used to the game. You should also avoid any unusual downloads, like house lots, because they can be the source of a lot of confusing glitches and problems with your game. And we all need lots of practice in playing the game. It's a very complicated game.
Oh, lots of drama's happening in your game already! LOL. You'll be fine even if you install all the EPs. There's no wrong way of doing things in the Sims -- except for maybe torturing your sims on purpose... If I were you, I'd start off with just making an everyday couple in Create-A-Sim and have fun with that family, explore TS2 and the rest of the EPs in good time. No pressure. Let them have their kids and let their wants get fulfilled, get them a pet or two, maybe go on a vocation if they've got the money... That's how I started playing the sims 2 (except for the pets and vocation because that stuff didn't exist back then). I hope you have as much fun with the game as we do! (Trust me, in a couple of weeks you'll be more than hooked.. )
