Action bubbles are blank I just installed the Sims2, all expansion packs, glamour stuff, celebration stuff, and family fun stuff onto my new computer. dxdiag attached. Everything runs fine except that pictures do not show in many of the action bubbles (sorry I cannot think of a better name). For example, when I use the cell phone vendor machine, there are no pictures displayed for the choices. When I perform actions like [read a book] empty boxes are shown at the top of the screen. My sim's avatar is also a blank box on the left of the screen. Some of the actions I perform do show the icons, some do not... If it would help, I can try to find out more details on the ones that are not displaying. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. ps: what the heck are those bubbles called? I just can't think of a good name for them...
I think they call 'em thumbnails.. But icons/bubbles are fine with me -- I know what you mean. Have you tried cleaning the disk and downloading the latest patch from EA?
I *think* I have latest patch. If I patch Bon Voyage that would be the most up-to-date I can get right? Or do I have to get the Uni, ofb, pets, etc. patches too? Bonvoyage (disk I run it with) is brand new, but I'll check it for problems when I get home (@ work now). thumbnails... icons... bubbles... little pictures; whatever
Ah, sorry. I didn't respond to this when I first saw it and then forgot. Open My Documents > EA Games >> The Sims 2 Delete the file called "groups.cache" (You can also delete any or all of: "Accesory.cache" "cigen.package" "ContentRegistry" Whichever are present. Deleting them forces the game to make new copies (when it needs them ... it won't make them all at once).
