JOOSHH!!!!!! :( I no you were trying to help but when i updated the driver something horrible happened! The one and only neighborhood i played on got destroyed!!! When i pressed the sims2 shortcut on my desktop it went throu the intro as normal then it came to the neighborhood selector. All the other neighborhoods where there except Pleasentville!! O anyone can you please help me. i cant email EA games myself coz the things not working for me. This is serious i worked so hard on that neighbor hood it was a masterpiece! Get to me as soon as possible im like dieing here!!!! (metaphore or simile whateva u call it)
Installing a driver update would not tamper with your game. The only possibility of that happening is if game files were messed with.
Well it kinda did. Because everything was fine before i installed the driver.....:( i want my pleasentville back
Pleasantville is the first neighborhood, correct? I'll try to help you out... Open up Windows Explorer and go to this folder: C:\Users\Judhudson\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods. Check to see if you have the N001 folder. Open it up then click on the lots folder. You should have many .package files in there. Now, what you need to do is backup all of your downloads. From your Neighborhoods, downloads, characters, etc. Here is a guide to backup your neighborhood files: http://www.modthesims2.com/archive/index.php/t-46152.html Also, here are the folders you should backup: http://compsimgames.about.com/od/thesims2strategyhelp/qt/backupfiles.htm Now after you have all of your data backed up, you should uninstall the game and do a fresh reinstall. Once you reinstalled, drop all of your files back in their proper place and you should be good to go.
Answer these questions: Does the folder named below, exist on your computer (you will have to actually look My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods\N001\ Inside the N001 folder are the following sub-folders present: Characters Lots Storytelling Thumbnails (there will also be some other files) Inside the N001 folder is there a file called N001_Neighborhood.package Bring up the files properties by right-clicking on it and choose properties from the list of options. Look the date it was last modified. Is that date the same as the last date that Pleasantville was playable? Once you have answered those questions I can give an opinion concerning the recoverability of your Pleasantville neighborhood. If you just want Pleasantville restored to pristine, unplayed, condition that is much easier. However this will be my last attempt to help you. Josh and Jud have both offered you extensive advice and help and all of your responses have been confused, incomplete and not always consonant with the facts. Please, for your own sake, try to take time to make yourself crystal clear so that we can understand what it happening. The original problem was likely a simple one, but now it is getting worse. Your answers to our questions are important, because we can't see what is happening on your computer. We only have what you tell us to go on. Until you understand that you are doomed to remain Sim-less. I am so sorry, but the truth is kinder can pretending we know what is wrong.
Does the folder named below, exist on your computer: "YES" 2. Is that date the same as the last date that Pleasantville was playable?: " YES but i did try and fix it but copying and pasting and deleting yesterday but i made a backup before i did."
Follow the directions in the two links in my previous posts on how to backup your data. Backup the exact folders and content it tells you to. Then do a reinstall. That is as far as I can help since I cannot think of any other options at the moment
Thank you all Thank you all for all of your help. Jud, i tried that but it didn't work anyway thanks for trying. But one last crack at this thing im not sure if this will help but when i went into simpe to check out the neighborhood. first of all when i went into neighborhood selector it came up with the pleasentville picture but under it, it said unknown. and when i went into the used-to-be-pleasentville everything was stuffed up compared to th other neighbor hoods. The side bar were it would usually says lot description, neighborhood terrains, etc. There were just codes, and boxes where the little icons would be. i can send anyone the file if they want because i don't no how simpe really works except the real basics but until i find out whats the problem i guess im Neighborhood and simless. We've all lost a load of favourite sims in crashes. It sounds like you just had one. You can restore the original neighborhoods, including Pleasantview, by deleting the folder: Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\ When you restart the game new ones will be made. Just put back the ones that were not broke and leave the pristine N001, (Pleasantview 'hood) ready for a whole new story.
Wow that really is a bummer. Sorry to hear about the lost But at least it can always be recreated - with time...lots and lots of time.
