We need to see what your laptop has for graphics, ladeguerrero. Run dxdiag (Start >> enter dxdiag in the search bar and click on dxdiag.exe in the results) Tell us what on the Display Tab: Device Name Memory Remember the game was not designed for Vista and this sort problem is common. You needto run through all EA's troubleshooting steps for Vista and TS2 http://thesims2.ea.com/help/detail.php?help_id=281 Also HP is notorious for shipping its computers with enormous amounts useless software. Please make sure you disable all background tasks. All thos little icons in the tray next to the clock can go for a start. http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cf...F90ZXh0PXdpbmRvd3MgdmlzdGE*&p_li=&p_topview=1 With that computer, assuming the graphics are up to the minimum for Vista (see first link, above) you need to be playing with your internet connection off and any antivirus software disabled as well.
Similar problem, but only after installation of H&M Hi, I have a Windows Vista HP laptop, and I had already installed The Sims 2, University and Nightlife, which all worked fine. However, once I installed the H&M Stuff pack, my families would not load. I had previously not been able to get custom content to work at all, which is why I bought the H&M Stuff pack - to get more clothes, but I figured I could just about live without downloads. Now, however, I can't do anything at all! I load the family, and it just crashes and won't go to the actual house.
Are you running the game from from the H&M launcher? [C:\Program Files\EA Games]\The Sims 2 H&M Fashion Stuff\TSBin\Sims2SP5.exe If you aren't this may the problem. H&M makes changes to the game files structure so the old Nightlife Launcher will start up a game which is unable to read your game files, hence the reason why it won't load them. If you haven't got a desktop shortcut for H&M on your desktop, look for the launcher in the Start Menu (it'll be in an EA Games folder or wherever you asked it to be placed) Failing that Start >> Computer and navigate to where you installed the game. Typically this is Drive C:\Program Files\ Open \The Sims 2 H&M Fashion Stuff\ then open \TSBin\ Now right click on Sims2SP5.exe and choose send to desktop You will now have a shortcut to H&M Fashion Stuff on your desktop
... Hmm, I'll try this, but usually I just put the H&M disc in, and it loads itself up as H&M...we'll see though, thanks for the help!
Hi, I tried that, with no luck... it's very frustrating, it goes through all the motions of loading the house, with the blue squares lighting up along the top, then going to the screen that comes up just before the family comes up, and i thought i heard birdie noises as though the house was loading, but it just stays stuck on that screen!
Hm ... sounds like you need to reinstall the game. This means uninstall everything and start over ... :(
Thanks! Thank you, it's working now! But does anyone have any ideas on how to get my Downloads working? I'd really like to be able to get Downloaded clothes and makeup, but it only detects a random few when I put the files in the Downloads folder...
See the Downloads help You're probably not installing them correctly or else you're failing to get the mesh along with the recolour. The Definitive Download Tutorial & Need help downloading? Then this is the thread for you!
