downloads, add-ons Does anyone know of any sites, etc., that allow for downloading add-ons compatible with Mac's version of Sims 2?
Mac users can use the same downloads as Windows users, somewhat surprisingly enough. See our list of favourite free download sites Note that downloads fall into two broad categories: Stuff made with Game tools: Body Shop and Homecrafter This would be clothing, make up, hair, skintones, walls and floors And furniture and build mode items like gates fences, doors, windows etc. These items must have a special file called the Color Enabler Package (CEP): that's a link to it. There're 2 versions, a Windows and a Mac version. Whatever you download, make sure you read the information on the download website and any readme files that come with the download so that you know if you need a separate mesh for the article to appear in the game. I've looked at some of these sites and since I have a MAC Im not sure what all I need to install and where. When I try to download furniture, for example, it asks what I want Firefox to do with this file. The only option is open as stuffit something. I dont know what that is. How do I get all the downloads to my Sims 2 Downloads folder in Documents? I'm still not clear what meshes and .package files, etc. are either.
once you download a zipped or .rar file open it up with a program that will open these types of files. I know windows comes with a program to open zipped files but i don't know about MAC systems, For .rar files you will need either Winrar or a program that opens these up. once opened simply place the .package files in your downloads folder and you're done. The meshes will be in a .package file also . Just throw them all into your downloads folder.
I have a mac too I use Stuffit Expander (which you can download free here http://www.download.com/StuffIt-Expander/3000-2254_4-10653042.html) to open all of my custom content. It opens .rar files and you should be able to open .zip files anyway (I think) but if not, I'm sure Stuffit Expander will let you. Hope that works for you!
