    Lucky Shrine

is the result of throwing a coin into a lucky shrine random?
it's just that i have a family of two in takemizu village and the guy always gets stung by bees or starts scratching whenever he throws a coin while the female seems to get all this good luck, they both have maximised all skills.

I think it's just random because I had a guy get a thousand dollars once then the next day, or later the same day, he threw another coin in and started itching.

Aspiration meter. Gold and platinum good. Green and red much less good.

Look at what you sims want to do and get them to do it ... they won't be happy unless they fill up their wants. The Lucky Shrine is a perfect paradigm for real life. Chucking a coin in a hole for a reward is easy and tempting, but if a person is lazy and is low in aspiration mood and wants to chuck a coin in a fountain or whatever, cos he can't be bothered to phone his friend Billy (who he really does want to talk to to), or get himself another skill point, or earn some money ... or whatever else is in his in current wants bin that will get him out of the red/green and into the gold/white.

As in life, The Sims teaches us that There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch.

Um ... I think there is also an overuse function ... lady Luck does smile benficiently upon those who just keep asking. The Seasons wishing well is another item not to overuse and, for that matter, the voodoo doll is not something you wanna mess with unless you are prepared for the bad as well as for the good. (There's a way of predicting the badness, but you'd have to be so anal to use it, you wouldn't even be playing the game anyway ... you'd be too busy being a total geek.)
