My kids are being taken away!

Okay so maybe they are very slightly neglected, a bit grubby perhaps, but always well fed with lots of social contact. Anyway, the social services have turned up to take them away! Because they haven't done their homework apparantly (I didn't know they had any!)

I keep re-starting from where I last saved but I can't seem to do anything to make the social services change their minds.

    Any suggestions?

Use the "move_objects on" cheat and delete the social workers when they come to your lot?

I think Maxis took away that cheat with TS2 and disabled Buy & Build Mode when the social worker comes, Jud. So it won't work unless you have the InSimenator (a very useful hack) installed. I don't have a link to it right now but if you search around the forums for "InSimenator" I think you'll find a link somewhere (if nobody posts it here).

So what you do once you have the InSim installed is enable Buy & Build Mode, when the social worker comes, by clicking anywhere in the game and the option should come up. Once they are enabled you can type in the moveObjects on cheat in to the cheat box and you'll be able to delete the social worker and her van.

gee, i've had the same problems too... only i noticed it just before the dreaded social worker showed up. whew.

the problem with homework is that... when kids bring it home from school, they just set them down wherever they want. be it outside, a bathroom counter, etc. and they won't even let you know about it.

well, like muffintacos said.. maxis apparently took away the cheat to delete social workers. so next time.... i say all you can do is to keep a close watch as your sim children get off the bus.

Thanks for letting me know that. It's been ages since I last played the game so I couldn't remember :)

They tend to leave homework in their bedrooms or by the computer. If there's no room in the house, they leave it outside.

If it's been snowing and they've left it outside, well, I don't think they'll be doing it that night lol.

swmeek I got your benevolent dictator pal!!

you can always try using this cheat boolprop allowdormspecifictoolsdisabled false and moveobjects on .
Once the social worker shows up hit F2 and then try and click on them to delete them.
    It's worth a shot.

Deleting the social worker is not a good idea ... the game will just keep spawning them.

I actually managed to have a social worker come for one of my own wee sims the other day. It was so embarrassing  (Stupid grandma decided to die while momsie and dadda were at work ... ) Anyway ... I couldn't have that ... so I exited without saving.

As always the rule must be: NEVER save unless you want to keep it the way it is.

Hey thanks. You know what I did in the end, I downloaded a rejuvinating chamber, rejuvinated them, and kept them up all night to finish their homework :D That'll teach 'em!
And no sign of that pesky social worker since.

I reckon I'll have to take them camping over the weekend now, to make it up to them.

It seems to me that once the game has decided that you are abusive to your sim children it's almost impossible to change it's mind. I've had to loose over an hour of playing so I could quit without saving just to keep the kids. Then when I went back to play they went from almost an A+ student to an F in like two sim days. I quit without saving again and had her work like crazy on her homework to get it all done then her parents went without sleep to play with her and feed her. When she went back to school her energy wasn't fully green but enough that she kept her good grades. I did that for a couple of days to keep her grades up.

Right, I'll have to look out for that. Perhaps I'll set the dog on the social worker next time she comes!
