    Sims 2 re-installation under Vista

    Hi

I have uninstalled Sims2 from my old machine which ran XP and Sims 2 fine. I'm now putting it on a new PC with Vista on and keep getting the following error -:
A problem occured when trying to transfer the file
    D:\TSData\Res\Sims3D\Sims12.package from the media.

Can anyone out there help please??

    Thanks

    RobertR

Um ... I'm doing the self same thing. :)

Make usre the disc is clean or not scratched.

Try browsing the disc in Windows Explorer (Start >> Computer)

If the disc is unreadable you might try polishing out scratches with a smear of toothpaste on a soft damp cloth. On the other hand if you can read the disc in Explorer then I recommend performing the manual install described here >> FAQ Thread - WorldSims Forums

Obviously im just new here at your forum. Hmm,, can I ask you a favor, I badly need some copy of sims 2 generation. My pc was reformatted yesterday and I lost my copy of it, I forgot to put some buckup for the files and I lost my cd. Can you help me to install it again?

    Help me please?

My bad, that was careless. I am reinstalling everything after my new hard drive failed, which was a nuisance as all my backups were on a second partition on the same hard drive. Silly me!

If you don't have the CD you can't install it. Sorry. Try not to lose stuff in future.

Dear dear...not good. Getting someone else's copy of the game is also called piracy which we don't promote here. I would normally lock this thread so no further discussion can continue on this subject but in case RobertR might still need assistance I'm going to leave it open. BUT if there is any more discussion on this (other than an apology) then I'll be closing it regardless.

Edit: Robert, I've also moved this to the installation forum as that's where this thread should have been placed for best results.

Aw, Shana ... I don't think he was asking for anything dodgy. He was just hoping there was a simple way around his predicament.

Me? I've reinstalled and am now right back to were I was exactly 152 days ago. Due to not having backed up since I rebuilt my PC the sudden self-destruct of the hard drive means I am back up and running on the files I transferred over 152 days ago. 21 and bit weeks of my life squandered. I'm going to sue Mr Western Digital ... last time I'll ever buy one of those puppies. :(
