    Still won't install... I am back! :)

HI, I thought I should just post a new thread, maybe grasp the attention of all you helpful folk. Well, sister's got her own computer meaning that I still have this one to myself, but we got some professionals to do some stuff with it and make it go faster and have more hard disk space (we have like 57GB free on C: at the mo.). But, when I put the disk in the drive, nothing happens and the drive I put it into seems to think there is no disk in at all. I have plenty of space on the game and a new hard drive (or something like that - I'm not too sure). So.. what can I do? Please help, I really want to play TS2.

I had the sims 2 on this computer before but uninstalled it, followed the instructions by ManagerJosh on manually uninstalling it and had some other help. The thread 2 down from here, posted by me a while ago, has all the information. But specs and whatnot might be different now because I have more space on my C: drive and stuff.

    Thankyouverymuch,
    marshaandchester

    Information!!

    Stuff

    Processor: Mobile Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.20GHz
    Memory: 702MB RAM
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600)
Free Hard Disk Space: 56.9 GB
Total Hard Disk Space: 63.8 GB
    DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
    Display Adapter: SiS M650
    Display Driver Name: SiSGRV.dll
    Version: 6.14.0010.3592 (English)
    Date: 01/04/2005 22:00:44
Approx. Total Video Memory: 64.0 MB
Game Detail: I own The Sims 2 (CD-ROM), University & Nightlife, and the Christmas Party Pack.
Problem: Well, I used to have the sims 2 on this computer. I uninstalled it ages ago and some time last year I wanted to re-install it. But it didn't work, I didn't have enough free hard disk space, and help from the worldsims forum team didn't work (although it was very helpful.. if that makes sense! Thank you homies). I have this computer all to myself now. Like a week or so ago, it got a new hard disk (or something like that) which has like sixty-something GB, and everything on the computer is so much better, it's faster and smoother and so much cooler. But The Sims 2 still doesn't work! I put the disk in, and nothing happens. When I go to My Computer, the game isn't there. Absolutely nothing happens. I'm puzzled seeing how I have a new hard disk and that it worked before. Please help. Much appreciated. (Thought this might be a better post than the one I originally sent, makes a but more sense! I hope.) I don't understand the whole Video Card requirements thing but TS2 used to work on this computer so I don't see how anything could have changed.

Thaaannk-you so much if you help, I know it must be annoying helping people like me the whole time! But ya... go on, help me, you know you want to! (If you know how!) :crossfingers:

    Laterrrz.

Can other computers recognize the disk? Can your computer recognize other disks? Or even the EP disks?

Just trying to get an idea if its the CD or the CD Drive causing the problem.

    Hmm..

I tried the Sims 2 base game in my sister's laptop, it recognised it. So I tried the University game in this laptop and it recognised it! It got me confused. So I just cancelled it when the University game was in, or should I have seen what would have happened if I'd let it go on? Hmm. Makes no sense to me. Will there ever be a solution?

Any scratches or smudges/fingerprints on the TS2 disk? Is there a network between both computers? That way you could copy the data off the disks on the other computer and transfer the files over. Otherwise I don't really know why your CD Drive is playing favorites. :p

What do you mean by a network? Sorry I'm pretty thick when it comes to computer talk sometimes. And how would I transfer the files if there is a network between them? x

It wouldn't work anyway as the game will want the disk when it starts up.
I really don't know why your CD Drive is doing this, hopefully someone else here has heard of this problem before.

    INSTALLING SIMS Double Deluxe

I had the same problem with it not showing the files. I finally was able to install it by using the safe mode. I believe I went into my computer to do it. It took a very long time to do it that way but it did install.
