Help me!!!!!!!

Help! I can't figure this out! I need help with extracting items i download on to the game... I know how to extract and everything... but where to put it (Ex. Sims/gamedata?...etc) i don't know what to put in the extract to box.... so if you know.. please help! you can IM me on AOL Instant messenger... It's WvQtee00.. thanks!

objects go under the gamedata/userobjects folder
objects normally are .iff
if they are .far u should put them in the downloads folder

The only thing i'm having a problem with is the houses.. I downloaded that SimZip thing you told me to but when i put the houses on there it says they're on there, but they're not on the game.. I don't understand.. if anyone knows what to do please contact me thanks

Wv, you need to go to the site where you got the houses, and read the instructions on where they go in the folders. There is also sometimes a readme that is in the zip explaining where to put them. The file path to get to your folders is as follows:

c:/ProgramFiles/Maxis/TheSims/GameData

This is where all files for the regular downloads go such as objects and skins and things.

The path for User Data is c:/ProgramFiles/Maxis/TheSims/UserData

not meening to be rude but....if you took a minute to look at the way the sims folder system works you could figure all this out.

 

Well not MEANING to be rude, but i don't know how to do that either.

 

use nhood manager to install houses from zip files. you can get the link at www.simprograms.com in programs section.

 

gosh if you don't know that then i suggest you take computer courses....it is important knowledge that you need to use a computer sucessfully.

Thank you Blade for sticking up for those of us who are not technologically sophisticated...some of us have lives that don't give us alot of time to play around with a computer and figure stuff out the hard way! Tsk, tsk, tecnofreak, arrogance is not a virtue!

Dear Tecnofreak, I'm glad that you took my "rebuke/comment" so well...I think that sometimes we think that because something comes easy to us then it should be easy for others to figure out as well....your apology to WvQtee00 was graciously done (and graciousness IS a virtue!). I don't know about her, but some of us need some slack cut on some of these computer thingies! lol

 

thanks... i have been on high levels of anti-biotics lately and have been prone to mood swings...
