My new computer and the European Economic Community.

I just bought a new computer. It was (at least in part) manufactured (or put together) in Germany. It was sold by a firm in England which is actually a German firm and the manageress of the shop in which I bought it is (wait for it - no guesses) German.
The other day I heard of a man who used to live in England and now lives in Germany, working.
    This is the E. E. C. Isn't it great?
I understand that the computer was in very great demand (there were only six or eight in the shop where I bought mine) and that it generally sold vegetables, etc. I arrived there at 6.30 thinking I would be first in the queue - I was. The second one arrived at 8.00 a.m. (Who is laughing - I thought I heard some).

So... what did you DO for the first hour and a half of waiting while there were no other people waiting there in line to talk with?

I hope you like your new computer! :D

I just sat. It was too cold to walk around, but I had to wait outside the door from 8 a.m. onwards.
The computer is terrific, except the keyboard and mouse. They are wirless but the keyboard has no lights. I came across a sound you can make the computer make when caps lock (etc) are pressed, but it comes through the tiny speaker on the computer in a squeak and I can't really hear it. Otherwise the computer is terrific. I didn't realise soldiers could move that fast, or that there is blue smoke (other than when I swear - which I can do because I am on my own in my bedroom (sorry - computer annexe). It cost 849.99 (why do they do that - everyone knows it was 850.00), but it had no monitor or speakers. It has everything anyone could think about, except a good keyboard and mouse.

Sorry the keyboard and mouse are giving you trouble! What game are you playing with the soldiers moving faster, and blue smoke?? I think it's silly they do the "only $19.99" type of pricing too... one penny less to make it SEEM a dollar less!

Command & Conquer: Generals - the original issue - not the add-on which I don't have just yet. The keyboard and mouse are ok except there are no lights, which is a fool of a thing to miss from a keyboard. If you click caps lock on an ordinary typewriter the caps key stays, strangely enough, locked down so you can see it immediately. But when you click caps lock on a computer there is nothing to tell you that you have done just that. There is no trouble with either keyboard or mouse but the mouse is a 'ball' type and has to move to make the cursor move. I am used to my old trackball now, which is much more efficient in some areas, and not so good in others.
Every game is substantially improved - even Industry Giant 2.

Hence why they do it.. you might buy something if it SEEMS cheaper than 20.00, but if it's obvious that it's 20.00, then you might not. It's all about perception.. and tricking it.
