TS2 won't install on AMD system Not happy Jan!! TS2 installs perfectly on our 2 other Intel Celeron systems, but refuses to install on my AMD system. Methinks there is a BIG Incompatibility issue to be addressed by MAXIS. There are no emulation programs installed, so this is not an issue. Any ideas anyone????? New M/B & CPU is not an option yet. And yes, all drivers & DirectX updated. All help appreciated. What happens when you try to install? It would be easier to help if you could tell me what error you are getting.
Ok. After putting in the serial number, it goes to next screen which says it is going to install an extra 236mb. I move the mouse to click OK and that's when it stops. There is no error message. Only once did I get as far as inserting Disk 4. Then it wouldn't read the disk or go any further. I tried installing it on a Celeron P3 800Mhz system with no updated drivers and minimum specs and it works perfectly.
Two thoughts: Wait a while? Because sometimes it takes a while for a process to finish Second thought: Force compatibility mode on the installation exe.
lol Josh. Is 1/2 hour long enough? Also, doesn't the game have to be installed to force compatibility mode? Or do I copy Disk 1 to Hdd and try forcing it?
you can force compatibility mode directly on the application on the CD itself without needing to copy it.
It works fine on an AMD XP 2100+ and AMD 64 3400+ here. For some reason on my sister's computer (the AMD XP 2100) when it was installing it would just freeze at the splash screen that comes up, I ended up having to make an alcohol image and run it off her hard drive.
OafyC Out of curiosity, what motherboard does the AMD XP2100 have? Other specs would also be appreciated, so I can compare with mine.
I have an AMD XP2000 running on a Gigabyte K7 Triton motherboard with 256 megs of DDR ram and a GeForce 2 Mx400 Video card. It runs choppy when you get in a graphically "busy" area or in fast forward mode, but it does run and is playable. We had to reformat the hard drive and install Sims before any of the other software that we installed in order to make it work, but it was well worth the extra effort.
