Mystery Ailment and Being Ripped Off I'll ask the question first. Why can't I get my teens into anything other than the exact same outfit? I sent one sim over to the clothes store and she bought a new outfit and PJs and spent the money which dutifully disappeared from the account, but when she got home, I couldn't get the new clothes to appear at the dresser for her to wear. Is this normal or some bug that needs ironing out or am I missing something? Second thing. One of my sims has the home science lab and he created the mystery ailment. In stead of coughing, he looked like he was getting stomach flu, but then his bladder started to run out at an unseemly rate. For example, he was red so I sent him to take care of business. Then with a fully green bar, I had him serve breakfast. Just that quickly, his bladder bar was tinged red again, and I had to send him off to the potty. That was a total pain with twin toddlers in the house!
Re clothing ... The wardrobe/armoire in TS2 isn't like the ones in TS1. You have to stock it before you can use it. Generally speaking you cannot "plan an outfit" for any of the categories unless you have a choice of 3 items. This means you need to buy 2 complete new everyday kits before you can use either. (2 in cupboard, 1 on) It is also expensive ... Re the mystery ailment. One it is highly contagious. So your sim should isolate himself and stay in bed until he is well ... he might even die anyway if he has got it bad. I don't like that home science kit. It is more trouble than it is worth ... come to think of it that doesn't say much, does it?
This isn't quite true. You need to *HAVE* two complete outfits. This may, or may not, include the one you are wearing. If your sim spawned into some random duds upon growing up, this is "not a real outfit", and doesn't count. You don't actually receive these items. However, if you bought some previous duds, and those are handed down, or you had a sibling who was CASed into those duds, those count as a real outfit you actually own. Sims rarely *DIE* from diseases, but the worst possible outcome is infecting a townie. If a townie becomes affected, your neighborhood is doomed unless that townie is quickly and rapidly killed before it can spread, since townies cannot be cured. Well, you get what you pay for. The Home Science Kit really should not be used by those of less than at least moderate logic, and even then not without the presence of a tutor. In fact, it's just one of those things you want to avoid messing with. You get what you pay for.
Oh, but the torture has been worth it. My poor sim had two diseases at once. So far he's given the coughing one to his wife and their daughter although the three boys have avoided it. He's given the "flu/dysentery" one only to his wife so far.
