Modding after the patch How much impact do you think the patch will have on modding? Will the mods we already have need to be changed? (I *love* the truncated cheering for A+s patch that JMP did for us. My kids have more time for fun and homework now that that's done, and the parents are having their activities stopped for yet another A+.)
It is recommended that you temporarily remove all mods when installing the patch. The Chat Bug fix, in particular, should become superfluous and should be removed. If you're using any of my mods, as soon as I get the patch, I'll be reviewing all of my mods for compatibility and posting the results, regarding what mods are usable as-is, what mods are now superfluous or nonfunctional, and what mods need to/are updated for the patch.
Thanks JM. I had planned on removing all the mods when the patch came. However, I'm really going to miss that truncated "A+ cheering" hack. While I don't mind the "Yes!" motion you left for them to do (and didn't want to use the one which completely removed that), I don't want to go back to 20 minutes of bragging and parental cheering. And thanks for all your hard work on these hacks. They are things that I think people really find useful. (At least I've appreciated the ones you've done. I haven't been even tempted to use the others I've seen elsewhere.)
**** straight. I don't either. That hack is on first priority the moment I get my mitts on the patch to verify that it still works. I wasn't aware there was another one which removed that, unless you're referring to the very original version where I just crudely linked the "regular" grade BHAV instead, but that one was entirely superceded by this one, which is the new and improved version. The old one, if that's the one you refer to, was made by me also, but is no longer supported and should be replaced. Or did you mean a different other one?
JM roxors Great work so far JM. My locked rooms, money trees, and school buses are much safer places now. Thank you.
I meant the first one. I only use your hacks (so far). And I have been enjoying the more normal behavior that the kids have with the nocheering hack. Also, the notownieregen and the security system, although the security system seems to have some glitches but which I haven't figured out the context completely. The two main problems I had with the security system was that even at level 3, guests would still go right into the bedroom. And the other problem was that even with full lockdown, the durn burglar got away, but after that guests couldn't get in. And the police didn't come until my Sim called the cops, even though the security system was clanging like mad.
After setting the security level did you actually engage the lock? i.e. Lock -> This Room? According to the manual, this is on purpose. You still must own a regular burglar alarm in order to summon the police.
I didn't see a manual. I had a brief "readme" file, but that's it. Thanks for the heads up about still needing a regular alarm. That's actually what I ended up doing. As to the security setting, no I didn't say "lock" for it as I thought that was part of the setting of the security settings. Thanks for letting me know to do that separate step. My Simmies sure seem to like their alarms though. They walk through the house looking at each room's alarm and giving the "Yes!" arm movement.
If you're interested in following the progress on the security system, I've put up version 1.1: This one doesn't change too much, but mostly eases the transition to version 2 that I'm currently doing final tests on by changing the proxy GUID so that once the lot is saved with v1.1 in use, v2 will be automatically loaded into place when you overwrite v1.1 with v2. A lot of major changes are made in v2, it's nearly a total rewrite.
