Welcome to The Sims 2 University! Part 1 Greetings, Sims 2 Fans, An apology of sorts is in order. Im totally messing with our naming scheme for these weekly community missives first you had the Luc Mail, then simply added the letter y when it became the Lucy Mail. Well, now all thats right out the window, because my names Tim. Hi, and welcome to the first ever The Sims 2 Tim-mail (or T-mail, if youre into the whole brevity thing). Im the Senior Producer for The Sims 2 franchise, and your new source for regular info on the game we all know and adore, The Sims 2. First, let me take a moment to thank my immediate predecessor, Lucy Bradshaw, for the absolutely phenomenal work she did getting The Sims 2 on PC screens around the globe, as well as keeping the community well informed and completely stoked to play the game thanks, Lucy! Youll be a tough act to follow, for sure! Next, allow me to assure you that you, dear Sims fan, remain the heart and soul of our little game. Its always rewarding to rack up awards and millions in sales, but for me, the best part comes when I download new, fan-made custom skins, or read a really rockin story on our Story Exchange. The scope and breadth of The Sims 2 Community remains the real measure of our success, and when we see people using the game to tell stories that we would have never thought of ourselves, and pushing the envelope in terms of fan-made content, thats how we really know weve succeeded in creating the best dang game in the whole world! Now that Ive buttered you up, we must ask for your patience and understanding while we put the finishing touches on the 1st downloadable patch for The Sims 2. As you know, The Sims 2 is a bona fide global phenomenon, which means that we have a mandate to make sure that players the world over get the same top-notch experience. The Sims 2 is available in 18 different languages besides English, and before we release anything to the public, we need to make sure that each of the 19 languages we support is tended to with the same care and consideration we give to all our products. Rest assured, though, the update will be available very shortly. Now, I hope youre yearning for some higher learning, because the word is out about the first expansion pack for The Sims 2 The Sims 2 University, where youll be guiding brand-new young adult Sims through the collegiate experience, and of course, much, much more along the way. This EP is chock-full of new objects and game-play for your Sims, so even if you dont think your Sims will be up for much fancy book-learnin, therell still be plenty to do. There are band objects that Sims can use together - I cant wait to see the music videos that come from the community! And there are some surprising new ways for your Sims to earn a little extra cash, or should we say print it. As always, your options are nearly limitless. And as always, we cant wait to see the surprising directions you push your Sims in. If they dont get your mortar boards twirling in anticipation, then perhaps youre just too cool for school! Instead of screenshots, I thought it would be cool to give you guys some behind the scenes imagery. I think its cool to see how the ideas form in the first place. Hope you like em. I know that there are going to be several *very* happy people out there. Before TS2 came out there were several people who were saying that they wanted ways of having bands and making "music videos." So, it's not just about University life (which is a good thing, since there are some people who absolutely *hate* that idea.)
This all seems like just the standard issue pap and propaganda. I see nothing here that should impress anyone, given that Maxis has a longstanding track record of promising things, then not delivering.
Maxis not-withstanding Pap aside, if Maxis has included the opportunity to learn instruments and forem a band I for one will clap with glee. I can already see some new band families cropping up in town.
Well, I for one am excited. I'm wishing that some of my teen sims that have since grown up to adults would have had this opportunity. I'd love to send some of them to college, let them join a band, whatever!
Let's hope that part of the EP includes a lecturing option where elders who didn't get to go to Simuniversity do a "we didn't have such things in my day" routine and all the younder sims yawn and look bored and go: "blah, blah, blah"
LOL At Mirelly. That would be funny. Or how about the action options while a sim is in class: "take notes", "flirt with neighbor", "eat a candy bar", "sleep", "Do homework for next class." hehehe
Hell yeah! I'm so all over this. We can have the elders sitting on the park bench, giving our "In my day..." speech. "...and we liked it!"
"When I was a boy, we walked to school in snow 10 feet deep, and did our work in a school-house with no heat, and then walked back home and shoveled snow, and then ate dirt and slept on hard floors, and we WERE THANKFUL!!!!":silly:
Ignore silly Fishface, Kristal. He hasn't a clue. Right then ... We 'ad to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night 'alf an hour before we went to bed, lick road click wi' tongue, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, then work 27 hours a day at t'mill and pay t' mill owner for permission to come to work and we come home our mutha and fatha would slice us in two wi't bread knife and dance about on our graves singin' 'allellulia ... and you try tellin' t' young folks of today that and they won't believe ya. :(:rambo:
Hmm.. I'm debating with myself on how much I want this. On one hand I'm thinking that it could be somewhat interesting... on the other hand, I don't know that the interactions and new features would necessarily be worth my $30. I am very glad that they are releasing the new expansion.. but personally I don't know that college is something that I could "get into." After all, besides "streaking" and "pillow fight" what other interactions could they include? And what is there on a college campus that they don't already have in the game? I'm going to have to think long and hard about this EP before I buy. Perhaps I'll buy a used copy when GameStop gets a few... Thanks for the info, though
LOL at Mrielly!! I think that your Dad and my Dad were related. Ever hear the ones about the coal mines and having to share a bed with 4 brothers, and one of them wet the bed? Those were the kinds of stories my Dad used to tell. I was quoting him. (Oh, and Bill Cosby. LOL)
In a way i agree with u!What can they put in a teen rated game, of college, that is't in there already. make it Mature and then i could think of a couple.
I can think of several things that are not M rated that I'm looking forward to: 1. more objects (like the musical instruments and pool table) 2. more clothing, hair and other meshes (to open up our ability to make more cool custom content) 3. the coffee house feature (so that we don't have just the silly grill for our community lots, although full blown restaurants would be even nicer IMHO) 4. although it's not confirmed, the idea of a dorm makes me think that we might be closer to having apartment buildings. While I know that I'll probably put some of my Sims through "University," it's not the college related activities that I'm most looking forward to seeing. Maxis tends to build on previous information with each EP and often if you're not using an EP, you'll be missing out on things like object bases and meshes that the usual custom content people won't hesitate to use for making new and wonderful stuff for us. But then, people don't have to like TS2U. If their favorite ideas didn't land in this one, there are still many EPs in the chute waiting for their proper time to be finished and then released. I, for one, am really looking forward to midMarch when the EP is supposedly coming out!
i am sooooo not patiant till sims 2 university is ready!!! I WANT IT NOW and i want to know about the other ep's before they even discover it
