Sims 2 for Macintosh Release Date Announced! According to Amazon.com, The release date is going to be May 30, 2005
Release date? Does anyone know if there have been any changes to the Sims 2 release date for the Mac? I mean they are already advertising an expanion pack for it and i don't even have the original! My friend has the Sims 2 and its making me nuts that i don't have it. Please tell me they pushed up; the release date!
The Sims 2 Expansion pack is already in development. After it gets released in March, its most likely heading to Aspyr to be ported over.
Preorders? Is there any sites that i could preorder the sims 2 from? Ill wait for the sims 2 to come out in May, but i need to preorder it . Btw, why are they making it so long for them to create it for mac? i mean yes it must be very complicated and alot more advanced to make than the sims 1 but come on. can it really be that hard to transfer?! ~liam the chaotic
From what I've read, it took a while for Maxis and Aspyr to work out the legal details. (I suspect they were at the table for more than just the original. I suspect that they probably worked out detailed plans for how they were going to handle the EPs as well.) Once Aspyr had it in hand, I suspect it took the usual amount of time to transfer it (but a bit longer than for TS1 because of how much more complicated the game is.)
I remember reading somewhere Aspyr Media was moaning after they started working on porting over The Sims 2 for Macintosh. Something about Sims 2 being the most advance porting they have ever done in their entire company history.
I can believe that. My game testing friends (who work for other companies but have picked TS2 apart to see what's inside) say that it's the most complex game they've ever seen. One of my friends said that he's glad that his division didn't have to do testing for it because so many of the problems which got the people playing TS2 so angry are things that the testers couldn't have designed tests to use on it. (They said that they were very glad they weren't in the Maxis tester's shoes!)
