You gotta kill someone, uhm... some sim on your lot. If you don't want to sacrifice any of your sims you can always kill off a townie or any sim that happens to pass by the house.
Or if you have another family with active ghosts on their lot, play them & invite the sim over at night in hopes of them getting spooked. Good luck!

    Several easy ways:

    - fence them in. Let them walk into a room, take away all exit doors. They'll starve to death.

    - drown them. Make them go into the pool, take away the pool ladder. They'll drown.

    - burn them. Take away all fire alarms, make them cook or start a fire in a fireplace, and let them burn.

    - electrocute them. Let a Sim with low skills try to repair a broken dishwasher, trash compactor, or computer.

However, I would be cautious. Your Sim may have the want to see a ghost, but the ghost might very well scare your or other Sims to death - literally. If you do a search on this forum, you'll find many more posts about what ghosts did to people's Sims.

Here's a list of what the ghost's colours mean:

    White: died of old age
    Transparent: died of hunger
    Red: died of fire
    Green: died of disease
    Orange: crushed by a satellite
Purple: was attacked by flies and died
    Blue: drowned
    Pink: frightened to death
    Yellow: electrocuted

all of my sims 2 ghosts are red and none of them have ever died of fire. they die of old age or starvation.
