    Having trouble with skills cheat

    Hi

I'm trying to use the following cheat to get all my skill levels full but it doesn't seem to be working, has anyone tried it.

type "boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true" in the cheat window
    Pause game without building/buying
    Select skill level icon
Drag cursor over the skill you want to increase

After I type in the cheat code the cheat window doesn't close & I cannot get the skills to increase.. any ideas??

    Thanks loads

For getting the cheat window to close, try hitting "esc" on the keyboard :)

And quite often with that cheat, I've found I have to leave the lot, go to the neighborhood view, then reenter and retry. It usually works then. Don't ask me why, as I have NO clue. But give it a try. :) Let us know if it works.

If you can't get the window to close, chances are that you made an error with the cheat, such as a typo. When that happens, the window will usually get bigger and won't go away until you type "exit". However, when you do the cheats properly (no typos, correct syntax), they will take the cheat even when the window is still open. (In fact, when I'm doing a lot of cheats at once, like for money, I deliberately mistype something to keep the window open for use.)

Once you are done with the window, it will go away by typing "exit."

I don't personally use the boolprop cheat so I can't specifically troubleshoot what you've done. I find that I prefer Merola64's multipainting to do what you are wanting. You can find it at www.simchaotics.com.

Remember, the boolprop cheat was not meant for the general public. It was a programmer's tool which got leaked to the rest of us. If misused it can cause some major problems, and it's not hard to misuse it as sometimes all it takes is a typo.

Off-topic but related question... once you have accidentally expanded the cheat window with a typo, how do you get it to shrink to one line again? I did that the other day and then for the rest of the session the stupid window kept opening already expanded.

    Just type exit.

Oh I know that, it's just that every time I reopen the cheat window it opens up big again and I have to type exit every time, and it gets a bit annoying. I know there's a command to collapse it back to one line, but can't remember what it is.

    Code:
    intProp maxNumOfVisitingSims 8
Replacing 8 with the number of your choice of course... but if you get crazy it will slow your game to a crawl.

Also you must enter the cheat from the neighborhood screen before you enter a lot. If entered from within a lot, the cheat will be accepted, but it won't take effect until you go back to the neighborhood and enter another lot.
