    Can You Save a Neighborhood?

Help! My dad is recovering our computer because of some spyware that got on it. I've spent so long (or so it feels) developing my Sims that I don't want to lose them. Is there anyway to somehow keep the families I've played?

    This from JM Pescado:
The only directory you *NEED* is C:\DOCUME~1\<USERNAME>\MYDOCU~1\EAGAME~1\THESIM~1\NEIGHB~, but other directories also hold configurational data that you may want to keep...or maybe not, if you use different graphical settings on your computer.

If you use the Storytelling options and the snapshots, you may also want to take your STORYT~1 folder, despite its somewhat hefty size, and if you have lots sitting in your lot catalog that you made or want to keep, you can take LOTCAT~1 as well.

Unless you used SC4, however, you probably want to just omit taking SC4TER~1.

COLLEC~1 holds your collections, which, if you used anything from the SimPE folks regarding buyable aspirational or career objects, you'll want also.

So, basically, I recommend you pack the following folders (which are all inside C:\DOCUME~1\<USERNAME>\MYDOCU~1\EAGAME~1\THESIM~1:(
    NEIGHB~1 (need)
    DOWNLO~1 (need)
    LOTCAT~1 (if used)
    STORYT~1 (if used)
    COLLEC~1 (if used)
CAMERAS (if you use a custom camera)

If you don't use any of the standard Maxian neighborhoods, you can omit NEIGHB~1\N001 through N003. If you use ONLY the standard Maxian neighborhoods, then you need to copy *ONLY* the N00X, where X corresponds to the neighborhood(s) you actually use:
    1 - PleasantView
    2 - Strangetown
    3 - Veronaville

So if you use none of these neighborhoods, copy the entire neighborhoods directory, but omit the 1-3 directories, as these will already be included on a standard install. If you use ONLY these neighborhoods, copy only the ones you use....and nothing else. Ignore all of the above if you don't use any of it. After a standard install, if you copied any of 1-3, be sure to NUKE the corresponding directory on your new install before copying them in, or else you'll have comingled directories that include both valid and invalid data.
