Need help with making pictures Hi ... I found some art pictures on the net that i would like for my sims to have on their walls ... but i don't have a clue how to go about making them. Does anyone know of any tutorials to teach me how .. or if i send the pics is there anyone who knows what to do could make them for me if its not to much trouble? The help would be much appreciated. Thank you Kelly
You can have your Sims paint the picture (although it won't have a frame and has to be a specific size.) Unfortunately, I can't find the tutorial I'd seen on how to do that. Basically you have your Sim start a painting, then you find the graphic in their file and replace it with one of the pictures you want your Sim to paint. But where that file is and the correct size and extension needed for the painting is what I can't recall or find. You can also use SimPE to "recolor" a painting so that your painting is used instead. You can find the instructions for that on ModTheSims2. (The old directions on how to just change colors of items is on this list but it is only for items which are merely changed in color. The paintings need the CEP and that requires them to be treated somewhat differently.)
I don't know anything about SimPE, as I don't use it, but Kat is right in stating that you can have your Sims paint whatever you want as long as they have creativity over 5, I believe. Of course, this means that you have to have a Sim paint these pictures in whatever house you want, you can't just buy them in buy mode. To have them paint a specific picture, use the art easel and select "Paint Still Life". Once the green box comes up the game will pause itself. Hit "C" and immediately hit ALT+TAB to get to your desktop. (It's just important that you don't unpause the game). Once you are on your desktop you can open any paint program. Open up the "Snapshot.bmp" file in My Documents/EAGames/The Sims 2/Storytelling" (Going from memory on the folder names, someone correct me if I'm wrong!). The size of that .bmp file will be the size of the painting. You can then put whatever image you want in that space. Save the image as "Snapshot.bmp" and when you open up your game and unpause it, your Sim will paint whatever you have saved. I use this feature a lot for personalized paitings with Babie's Names and such. It can seem a little tedious, but the paitings look nice in game. (Except for there being no frame, which kind of stinks). If that doesn't make any sense, let me know and I can try to explain a little better! =)
To make paintings for the catalog (that your sims can buy) you need SimPE Photo Studio. See the tutorial SimPE is an emerging software tool from http://sims.ambertation.de/, where full details (in English!) on downloading and installing can be reviewed and obtained.
I am finding SimPE very easy.. if you dont understand the tutorial.. ill be glad to help.. But I am hoping to learn something about that Datgen program.. I heard it has more possibilities
I agree that it is quite a bit difficult to change specific things in Sims or Neighbourhoods but the use of the Photostudio after Deedee's tutorial is rediculously easy, even for beginners Basically you pic an existing picture as a templatewhere the dimension-ratio width to height is close to the ratio of whatever you'd like to import Photostudio does crop if necessary, but obviously...the closer the template to your new pic the better the results -le
