    The Sims 2 - Nightlife Update - #2 - By: Tim LeTourneau

    Hey Everyone,

Thought I should give you guys an update on things.

The Sims 2 Nightlife production is in full swing and we are gearing up for E3. If any of you are going to be there, please come by and demand a demo from one of us :D.

I know from the sites and the bbs that there is a lot excitement about The Sims 2 Nightlife, which is great. I think we are adding the community experience the fans have been looking for. The locations are really coming together, and I cant wait to see the places youre going to build and the stories youre going to tell when you get the pack.

Its so gratifying to make expansions packs, because every day you get to see something new in the game, every new object, or social interaction, is something the whole team can get excited about and take pride in. I also want you all to know how much each member of the team thinks about you as we design and develop. This team is so committed to expanding The Sims 2 experience on the PC that things often just appear in the game because someone thought it would be cool and that you would like it. They want to make everything better. Ive attached a couple screenshots that I took of things that I know you especially will appreciate; things that wouldnt necessarily be focused on in a mainstream announcement, but to the community are just as important as new locations and new gameplay.

In the nightclub shot, check out the half-height walls and counter-island corners. Oh, the animated lights are pretty amazing too; the coolest thing is you can rotate them and create different patterns. Ive spent a couple hours just experimenting with different arrangements. I also stopped in on the Smiths in Strangetown and redesigned their pool a bit. Perhaps it can serve as a signal to relatives that might be passing by at night.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know were all thinking about you.

Take Care and Ill talk to you soon,
    Tim

The more modular pool will make many people happy. But it's a shame it doesn't show the ability to have curved pools. Now *that* would really make people happy! (Same with curved walls and the like.)

LOL ... but I'm already wishing for diagonal pool ladders and diving boards. That's me all over! Gimme an inch and I want a parsec!

Yep, I think being able to create pools with shapes other than rectangular will be very interesting.

Check out the girl's yellow outfit in the second screenshot. Me thinks they need to hire a fashion designer for this EP, what do y'all think?

Oy oy oy! Amen to that Kristal. I hope that is one costume mesh that is already in the Recycle bin. It is more hideous than a troll with a disfiguring skin disease disguised as a ugly monster. :p

I certainly hope Maxis allows us to do some creative curves rather than straight edges.

I'm also glad Maxis took our suggestions to heart back at the SIMposium :)

By the way ... I forgot to say that I think those lights rock and I also note the corner counter and half height wall. Very welcome architectural features. I hope that we will also get some half-landings that we can use for stair-turns. The connecting stairs are great but without half landings (or unsatisfactory cheat combinations) it is impossible to build internal stairs with turns ... it always seemed like an omission rather than a "not possible" ....

Is it me or did they add a bit of style to the diving board?

I miss the water slide for the pools. Are they coming back?

And I am ready to the EP to be here NOW. I hate the way they tease us for months before the game comes out. I am making my 1st college campus, and it very badly needs a club or two. What college student does not go clubbing??

Even I like clubbing. The resonant "thunk" of a stout club or "crunch" of a lead pipe smashing into your victim's shins is truly a satisfying sound.

LOL I looked hard at the pool furniture in my own game and I can't see any difference

    Pescado you're a wicked man! I like it! :p

You are lucky I am already a married woman and don't have the morals of a Sim, JMP. :p You are truly a diabolical man. You need to bring back the "Dr. Evil" Avatar because it fit you so well.

Ohhh, elevators would be cool :) So long as they're fast. Or how about teleportation - so you just go up to whatever floor, and click teleport here and they're there in a second! :)
