how do i evict families and retain belongings? As the question goes, how does one keep a previously-occupied house fully furnished after evicting the current occupants out but without losing everything the house currently holds? I have this family whom i wish to make more diverse genealogically i.e by turning them back to children and bringing back their previous generations into the household. In so doing, i do hope i won't have to risk removing all the wonderfully assembled furnishings, painting, and other domestic items since it was a pain putting the house together! :( Any kind of advice is much appreciated!
1. If you have Sims 2 (w/o Uni), try to move a friend of the family's in as a placeholder. Then move the family out...hm...this is when it gets tricky. Then your new family has to befriend the placeholder and then you have to have the placeholder ask at least one member to move in...then the first member asks the second member...etc...until you have everyone back in. This means moving your new family into a different lot, or an empty lot with a telephone...but it's worth it. 2. With Uni, much simpler. Move a placeholder Sim into the household using the Combine Family feature. Then enter the house and move the family out. Your new family can move back into the house with the Combine Family feature. I've never tried this before, but it just might work.
Thanks for the tips! I do have Uni though so i just tried combining households...wasn't really sure how to remove the previous occupants so i just--gasp--killed em three. It felt so painfully wrong even though i was just making space for the younger versions of the trio anyway. Still...:(
Note also that clever old thing, Inge Jones, website Sim Logical has a hacked object (a shrub) that can be used to designate which items will remain in a house when the current occupants depart.
