    Nightlife reveiw

Well i finally got my copy of this exspansion pack as always i backed up
my stuff and had a smooth install something that was a lesson learned with university which was a dam nightmare with out the custom content
switch you have in nightlife thank heavens the programmers are listening ?
I figure il start the game fresh with a clean slate to see the games strength with out the mods and hacks and i must say it did very well
had me back into the intense mode again of building than mod testing
oops " Anyway the new content is a welcome site and to get these sims
out and about is cool ..my ati 9600 256 said bring it on baby ..lol" The graphic's were smokin i even installed a new raptor hard drive fresh for the game which really help big time , Ok back to the game reveiw :
the cars are cool i wish we had hydraulic's heck doing a three way lift
at the club would be sweet lol" and having a Bmw wouldnt hurt either
i am sure the mod's are coming after nightlife ...the driveways were a bit tricky but heck thank god its there ...and that poor truck they could of at least put some rims on it ...ha ha ha flames cant do it justice lol"
also with a alien and vampire mix i am sure youl get some freaky DNA
out of these sims ..what a Mix ...a bat flying a saucer ha ha ha ha
geeze " thank god for having something to do in this game its nice to party now whew " and the new music on the build screen buy that programmer a drink thank goodness almost went mad with that last music
on the build screen , All in all this exspansion was well deserve and i think they heard us i am sure there is a few quirks here and there but i think this nightlife is a hit because university threw everybody off eventho
its a part of the series ..more like a babysitting exspansion to get rid of your kids ..lol" eventho there is a few items like the drums and bass and guitar and a few items noted to enhance the exspansion ...But nightlife does bring the game up to speed on fun than a book thrown at you in university oops again " But so far so good :bunny:

one thing that really caught me offguard last niht was that they finally added in surround sound support which actually works! 4.0 doesnt work on my system although thats how the speakers are set up, but 5.1 works fine. cant really say its very accurate though. im wondering where they are figuring the sound positions from?

also: i might have a new video coming soon now with the in-car woohoo and its awkward but fitting animation :D

Someone said that the excessive cheering is gone with Nightlife. (Thank goodness! One less hack for JMP to update!)

So, JMP, when do you get your game so you can start fixing our favorite mods?

6-8 weeks, although once I acquire an objects.package to work from, I can probably begin making untested updates sooner.

Autosocialize worked fine. :) I tried it last night with no problems.

Is there a listing of what Pescado hacks do and don't work? I removed them all out of paranoia (yes, I did run out and purchase Nightlife, whee! :D )

I did heitantly remove all my hacks too. Sigh. Now when I report a bug to EA and they send back the "are you using custom global content" automated reply I can say "NO!"

No one at MATY has passed that on to you? Geez...I'd even break down and go buy it tomorrow and upload mine...if it's not a complicated or painful procedure.

I finished loading Nightlife last night. I did all the recommended preparations and I think everything went pretty well. I had to lower some of the graphics settings (lighting, shadows, detail, etc.) because Downtown is so busy the action was jerky and hesitant. Seemed OK then. I really like the look of the slow dancing and the improved animation of conversation over meals, not to mention the neighborhood feel of being able to see other buildings. Haven't tried much else yet. However, I did look in on a small group of three students in college. Since it was time for one of them to leave and move back to town I didn't bother with the party, just had him call to move back to Baltimore. And got a blooper with the age transition ... I think he's OK now that I've moved him into a house Downtown (although I'm sending him to buy new clothes as soon as possible (yeesh.) :)

No kidding. Who dressed him, Ronald McDonald? Yikes.

I kind of like the binary face. :D Wonder what his kids would look like.

Thanks, JMP. I've been reading your site (along with other modding sites) to see what's happening, but all I saw about your hacks was that you didn't yet have the game.

I don't have it yet either. This will teach me to mail order rather than just order it directly at the retail store. But at least I got my Prima Guide and have devoured it. Between it and my vicarious reading of the various sites, I'm about ready to jump the UPS man when he comes.

The hack I'm most anxious to see again is the payatbox hack. It and my Merola 64 multipainting are my absolute favorite "mods." (Well, and the no-cheering hack, which supposedly we won't need anymore.)

Also, any clue as to whether the Colour Enable Package (CEP) is working for Nightlife?

    More observations

I absolutely love being able to see more of the neighborhood around the household. :) I've been planting trees like crazy, as backdrop to relieve the "twilight zone" look. I'm assuming the ghostlike appearance of the houses next door is the way it's supposed to look. I'm guessing they are representative 'icons' (for lack of a better word). They remind me of how the buildings look in free camera mode when you get down really close to them from the neighborhood screen. Anyway, I'm putting up a couple of pictures (from Uni) to show what I mean. Notice the shadows of the two houses. :p

By the way, my graphics card is an ATI Radeon x300. And just for these pictures I set Detail and Texture to high, but left shadows and lighting, fade and view distance at medium.

I am so Jonesing for a fast enough computer! I've managed to play Sims with my inadequate machine, but I can't build anything fancy or install some custom content without it crashing.

And no way could I play NL. I haven't even dared to try Uni. I hope my friend comes through with the upgrade soon or I may have to go to Roseville and stare longingly at the game over Jana's shoulder.

Wouldn't bother me, I might even let you try it for a little bit ;-), but only if you can get my name right!

Oops. How embarassing. I keep thinking your name starts with J because of the "Jupiter" thing. Are you especially fond of that planet?

    Anyway, sorry. My bad.

No problem sitches, we forgive you ;)

Personally, I think Nightlife gives far more bang for the bytes than University. This is a robust addition. Lots of new items and decoration options (now all those community made rugs can go into a rug catagory, woot). Most importantly, the feel of Nightlife is tangible. The way you see and feel the Sims world is changed.

    Thumbs up. :cool::D:cool:

oh that's okay, my real name Shana everyone pronounces wrong anyway, kind of used to it, it's pronouced Shay-nah. And the jupiter thing, yes, I do like that planet, but it originally came from Sailor Moon, back in the high school days, I'm 24 now. We had a group of friends, we were all kind of into the cartoon, and everyone said I was exactly like Jupiter. The one who thought with her heart first, loved to cook, my favorite colors were green and pink (still are) and she was the tallest of the group, which is true of me as well. So they started to refer to me as Jupiter and it just kind of stuck. And that's the story of my screen name...

Makes sense to me. I love green and pink, too, and I used to be tall but a lot of people caught up to me! I'm 5'7", have been since I was 13 ...

Rowan, you would have to go and make this harder. I can't wait. It's all I can do not to bug my friend every other minute, but then I'd be like a kid on a car trip ... Is it ready yet? Is it ready yet? :D (Actually, more like, "are you ready yet" since I haven't even given him my computer yet ...)

He's really good at finding parts. If he finds them, then tells me it will be another three weeks (for which I wouldn't blame him, he's got a life) I may have to figure out how to install them myself!!!

I already know how to put in a hard drive. How hard can a new motherboard be? (She asks, foolishly.)

    For the ones on MTS2:
    will work:http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=90156
    won't work:http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=89110

I couldn't find one on VariousSimmers. It has individual forums for each person and I figured that if any would have it, it would be TwoJeffs. If it's there, it's disguised.

Don't Look Ethyl. . . I mean, Witches. . .Until You get NL

    (I really, really need to update my Pop-culture references, don't I ;) )

I did a Sims-Marathon yesterday, for the 1st time really playing just for the enjoyment of it, not for the troubleshooting, learning kind of play I have been doing.

I really love all the little extra surprises that they added. The 1st time I saw a boy sim sneaking onto the lot after a date and leaving the girl sim a dozen roses, well, he might as well been leaving them for me I was so excited! ;) And the "furious" reactions are hillarious. Just for fun I invited two sims I had seen fighting autonomaticaly on a community lot for a birthday party. :D It was more fun than watching an old episode of Jerry Springer! :) It seems like, when you play one of those houses now, the "rival" sim keeps walking past the house. I don't even have to watch the sidewalk, I can just watch the resident sim's thought bubbles and see that the rival is stealing their newspaper or kicking their garbage cans over!

One thing I don't like about it is how suddenly all my sims, even my happilly married, carefully match-made couples all want to date, and not date each other!! This is why my community lots are turning into slap-fests! Even something as innocent as "Ask" comes off as a romantic interaction. Last time I asked some guy, "So, what are your interests," He didn't have hearts explode over his head, and my Hubby didn't have to kick his "can." :p

Kat: Thank you, thank you, for the links. :) I have been watching the "Doesn't Work" thread at MTS2 and that thread at MATY, but I hadn't kept up with them in the past two days, and they seem to have gotten very busy. :)
