COMING EARLY 2006. What do you think? I have wanted this since Sims 1.
Sounds fun! When they first mentioned it I thought it sounded a bit boring, but now that I've heard more, it sounds like, at last, we can go to work with our Sims! How fun is that?
I've missed the home businesses we had with Unleashed and Makin' Magic. I hope that it will include craft types of businesses. I really loved having my Sims spin thread (albeit only gold), make honey and wax, brew "juice" and the like. In spite of some people who keep saying "I don't like X", the ideas that Maxis seems to be putting into the EPs are ones which have a lot of requests. Cars and restaurants in NL, for instance. And now businesses. I just wish that they weren't waiting so long on the pets (and gardening if that isn't one of the new businesses.)
Yup, I love the fact that we aren't just getting repeats of the old sims1 EPs, but we are getting a lot of the objects that we all enjoyed the first time round. The business EP intrigues me, sound like there are many possibilities of what we will be able to do with our sims, but as I am still waiting for Nightlife (like Kat I pre-ordered and now have to wait for the postman), I refuse to look forward to something that is still a concept and so far away from release .
This was my favorite aspect of TS1. I miss these options on TS2 more than I can say. I, too, want major gardening added. If nothing else, it would provide something constructive for the elder retiree to occupy his golden years with. I desperately want some new trees and shrubbery. There isn't enough variety of desert or tropical plantings to landscape a desert or tropical neighborhood at present. As I've said before, I'd be happy if they'd give us a few pets in any ep. Even TS1 had the parrot. I don't need all the bells and whistles if I could have a dog, cat, and parrot. I wonder if they save the pets intentionally for a later ep. It probably rejeuvenates sales down the line when many have stopped buying them.
Deja Vu! This will be great! So I guess if you see your sims at work, you should be able to command them to slouch? I really wanted an EP that makes the time work properly when you're at Community lots. You know, like: You arrive at the community lot at 15:00 and you leave at 18:00. When you come back it'll still be 13:00, other sims will be doing the exact same things as before, and you're needs save from when you leave! That always bugs me.
Yes, that is a bit jarring, I agree, but I know why they do it ... you might miss something important in the other sims' lives, like a birthday or a satellite hitting them on the head. More shrubs and trees, yes! In the meantime, zy, there are some good sites out there that have garden objects not found in the game. There's an Australian one that's mentioned on "our favorite downloads ..." they have some nice stuff. A veggie garden would be tres cool. That way sims could grow some of their own food. Much healthier LOL. Hey, a milking goat would be fun. It could eat your laundry if you didn't lock it up ... of course, first you'd need laundry for it to eat. Wouldn't that be fun? A clothesline for the sims to hang out their wash, or a dryer for the richer sims. That's one thing that's missing, is the need to wash clothes. Perhaps in a future EP? I think it would be funny to have them get demoted for going to work with "schmutz" on their clothes because they couldn't be bothered to do their laundry ... Oooh, and chickens. I guess I'm thinking, Sims Farm. What do y'all think?
I love that idea of laundry! I'd also like it that you could line up several outfits for everyday use and those outfits would then cycle through each time your sim gets dressed or showers, vs having to go and plan the outfits every time you want them to change, although I don't want that option taken away! Once you reach the end of your cycle you'd either have to wash the clothes or choose to wear dirty ones. It would also be great with whenever one of the babies or toddlers messes on you that you're forced to go change clothing. They could have different type of ways to wash the clothes as well, like a big wash tub with a washing board for poor sims, and a washing machine for the richer sims, along with clothes line/dryer option that SBW gave as well.
Oh...I'm pretty sure I've found all of them! LOL! It's still not enough. I even have a nice vegetable garden. (They can't pick stuff but it looks good anyway.) If I could only pick one EP, it would be a farm one. I remember following a chat with some of the maxoids when they were planning Sims2. Laundry kept popping up as a request. Maxis didn't understand why everyone wanted that. I'm not sure why we want it either...I hate doing it in real life...but I always put a washer and dryer in my sim homes. I'm happy when I find laundry baskets, ironing boards, and boxes of detergent. I miss the pile of laundry I had in TS1. It was so appropriate for a teen's room.
What?! Where?? Now that I can see the neighbors, I must have pretty landscaping! I've been wanting Sims Farms for awhile now. I loved the gardening in UL and the baking/wine making/honey making in MM. With the old game, I had downloaded a washer-dryer object from 7 Deadly Sims for my Utility rooms. It just makes the houses look much more like homes. It's rather jarring to me to build a house true-to-life and not have a washer and dryer for the utility room. I wind up stocking it with plants and maybe a dart-board. You know, another cool life-like object that I wouldn't mind having for my utility rooms would be a hot water tank. Yes, I know, what a waste of space. But I'm going for realism in my houses, and we all have a hot-water tank in our houses somewhere, even if its in a closet.
yuck to laundry! (sorry, but it's so..... endless) I would consider a drycleaning service where they pick up and drop off for a fee, of course. Does anyone know if there are elevators yet in NL?
Yay to laundry! I've always been annoyed that their clothes stay clean all the time. You could buy your own washing machine or you could phone up a laundromat! Even better, have the Laundromat as a community lot! I'm thinking big here. And what about dishes? They always seem to have unlimited dishes. And you don't even unload them in the dish washer! And if you get to see sims at work, how come you can't see kids at school? Shouldn't they make the pizza price a little more realistic, I mean less than $40? And maid prices should go up. *Raves on endlessly* I do this all the time at school! Don't be bothered listening, I don't do it myself.
These sites have nice plants. http://www.aussietopenders-sims2.com/ This one has to be the first stop. I can't believe the difference these larger plants make in the game. The only problem is that, with all the color options, most of them revert to the original color when it comes time to trim the bushes. http://simestates2.planetthesims.gamespy.com/index.htm This is a nice site. I find it a pain to navigate and you have to download through gamespy but they have a few things I haven't found anywhere else. They have nice new roof designs and colors and a way to recolor your chimney. You can choose to make your chimney several types of stone in various hues beside that red brick. If anyone knows another place to find recolors for this, I'd love that info. http://www.spiffysims.com/ I go blind at this site but I really like some of Yggdrasil's things. He/she has some apple trees and corn, tomato, cabbage, and bean plants. You can lay out a nice little garden. He/she made a beautiful long trailing hanging plant and herbs that hang from the ceiling. They also have some nice roof tiles. Good luck finding these items. They aren't necessarily under "plants" or "build". Mts2 has several styles of washers and dryers, laundry detergent, ironing board, laundry hampers and even a hot water heater. You can make a real basement laundry room! lol Some of the plants here are wonderful. Someone has rhododendrons and various outdoor fern varieties that you can "stack" so you can make them taller or more plush. Swans and frogs on lily pad can be found here to make ponds more interesting. I believe this is where I found some palm trees in various sizes. I haven't loaded Nightlife yet. I have some prep work to do. Are there any new plants? Any new stair options?
Kristal, the first site that zy mentions is the one I was thinking of. Mod the sims 2 also has a lot of fun stuff ... as mentioned. I have seen washers and dryers, but of course they don't actually work. I have an ironing board that's actually a dresser. I think it's funny that sims still pantomime "opening" the door when of course there isn't one ...
Planet Sims is having download trouble today. I'm not sure if it's a permanent problem. I've downloaded from them before without trouble. I thought you'd all like to know that http://sims2sisters.sme.sk/ has some cool gardening objects, including a brand new set of crates and tools to add realism to your gardens! They're currently on their home page and can also be found under decorations. I check this site often, as they have new things every day. One warning: it seems to attract spammers, so you'll get a lot of popups. They ask you to report these, and I did, and now I hardly ever get them.
Sim2Sisters is an awesome site. And it's free (you can donate if you are so inclined, but that's way better than Pay 4 DL sites). I go there quite often.
This has been my dream since got The Sims Hot Date. I always made this custom littl lot that I pretended was a casino. God I loved it, whenever I went downtown I always went there, and I always thought wouldn't it be great to own it and make money off of it? Well now I can, this to me might be the greatest EP for the sims ever. I always as well wanted to go to work with my sims as well, when I first saw screens of The Sims 2 they were showing sims in offices and such with other people making me think that they can go to work. So this is going to be a must but for me.
