Adding Ads to Forums Hi Everyone... I've been discussing this with my staff and core team over the last few weeks and I'm personally no closer to deciding than when I first talked to my team. In the last couple of months, costs have started to climb up and well for me, I'm starting to struggle to pay for things. Currently I'm already beyond budget for the year and I've already exhausted the emergency WorldSims fund I had setup and I'm currently using a business credit card I have to maintain WorldSims. I'm projecting we're going to be over $2,750-3975.00 this year in terms of costs (Right now I'm at 1,000.00 already) Ads normally do cover everything, if not majority, however ad rates oddly enough declined rapidly enough while cost expenditures are rising. So I'm at a dilema here...I'm thinking of placing a few ads around the forums to help offset some costs, or do something else.... At this current point, I have planned out a mixture of ads, but my hope is to mainly use Google Ads in combination with some other ads. This would affect all users. But ads are annoying indeed and people want ways of getting rid of them. So with that in mind, my plan was to offer a series of premium services, ie. ad removal, more PM space, etc. to those who are willing to pay a monthly fee (or permanent fee..)..sorta like a First Class service in the airlines. This is all very tentative and regardless of the costs, I still very much want your feedback and want to know how you feel about this. I could just slap ads everywhere, but I still have concern for you as a member to see what you would favour. Anyhow, thanks for reading ! Please post your feedback! It's very much appreciated
i wouldnt mind as long as they are google ads since they do relate to the topic at hand (depending on what topic you are in). but anything else i wouldnt see anyhow since i have all those crap doubleclick, etc. ads blocked.
Well at this current point in time, I'm debating adding three possible ads, two towards the bottom of the pages and one at the top...Plus also enabled a new donations platform and maybe this would help prevent putting ads up.
I see that the ads have arrived. There was a well-endowed lady with a come hither look smack in the middle of Dear Emmy's thread . I don't mind that (I think it was an ad for wallpaper.) But the ones that flash in bright horrid colors screaming "Congratulations...you have won a free Gizmo..." hurt my eyes. I have to scroll the page up quickly to get them out of sight. This is just an FYI. As a bean counter I'm well aware of the costs of running any business.
