    Downloads not loading?

    Here's another interesting problem.

Since I did the reinstall (see the thread "Disappearing Babies!" for full gory details), none of my downloads seem to be in the game.

Granted, I haven't added back in any user created content, just the objects that were downloadable on Maxoid Monkey's page, so I figured they were safe. I did, however download the new anti-blur patch (that didn't modify any BHAV's or whatever the techincal jargon is). THAT seems to be working, but the objects aren't.

Anyone have any idea why? Hmm...

If you have done a clean reinstall you'll need to enable custom content. You may have missed that when the game first loaded but you can find it under the game options menus (f5) or the 2 dots button :)

Thank you for the tip, Mirelly! Unfortunately, I did notice that screen, and always have my downloads enabled. I even checked it again after the game had finished loading.

It seems to be something else. But, I guess it's not as bad as all my Sims disappearing (knocks on wood).

Um ... I don't suppose the Maxoid Monkey downloads are Sims2Pack files ...

Nah you wouldn't do that ... would you?

If you're suggesting that I just downloaded the files and put them into the downloads folder without installing them, no, I wouldn't do that. =)

I suppose it isn't the end of the world, SOME things show up, some don't. Seems like recolors show up, but new objects don't.

At least this way, it keeps me from being a download addict...

There is a difference between enabling custom content and oking it when you use Nightlife. If you enable custom content in the options section, it doesn't ok it totally. If you didn't ok it in the popup notice as well, it won't be enabled. I found that one out the hard way when I first enabled the game. It would enable things made in BodyShop or Homecrafter, but not the new meshed stuff. Perhaps that's what's going on with your game too.

Thanks for that tip, Kat, and after looking that is exactly what happened. I have it set to not bring up that screen at startup, and when I checked it was set to disable - even though I could have sworn I had checked the other box. Perhaps I was thinking of my game before the complete reinstall.

Everything seems to be back to normal, with all the precious JMP hacks back in working order! =)

    Thanks again, Kat!

    Glad to be of help!

I know how easy it is to click on the wrong thing. I keep clicking "shoo" when I'm trying to click on "appreciate-backrub" or "appreciate-admire." Sometimes I don't catch it in time and the Sim my Sim wants to appreciate has to be chased down to do the interaction I *meant* to have them do.

And (although *this* one hasn't happened to me) it's why people say that they've "proved" that a Sim can get pregnant with woohoo without saying "try for baby." They don't realize that they've accidently hit "try for baby."
