Phone rings non stop - help

Please help, does anyone know of a way halt the number of phone calls each house receives each day. I've noticed that from 4pm onwards the phone rings constantly. So much so that my Sims hardly have time to call their friends. Its annoying and time consuming! Any help is appreciated. BTW I have all the EPs. I couldnt find this question posted elsewhere, but if this post is in the wrong spot, sorry.

You could sell the phone then buy it back when you want to make a call. ;)

Or you could make time for your friends. Those nag calls only come from sims who haven't heard from you in awhile. Have your sim spend a game hour each day talking to the 3 or 4 friends in his phonebook with the lowest relationship score. Soon the nag calls will stop and so will those awful notices saying, "So-n-so is no longer a family friend. A little attention..."

This is fine. I had the same problem when I first started playing, still have it once in a while.

Here's what you have to do: Make sure your sims call 3 sims a day, if possible before the phone starts ringing. Call the three friends at the bottom of your list, that is, with the lowest numbers. If all of your friends reach 80 or above you should start calling new people to add to the list. It helps with getting promotions.

I know it's a bit annoying at first, what with the phone always ringing, but eventually it should stop. Just remember to call people every day.

If you have uni you can buy a cell phone for at least one of your sims so they can call people at the same time.

Pescado has a hack called autoyak that I hear works pretty slick for fulfilling the daily friends obligation. You might want to look into it. I keep meaning to use hacks and then chicken out. My computer has a hard time handling the game as is sometimes ...

Thanks for all the advice, I know I should call more friends, more often, but time gets away. Geez sounds a bit like real life!

I'm glad it's not some sort of bug or anything. As for hacks, I'm too much of a chicken when it comes to those things, but thanks for the suggestion.

I'll just try it the old fashion way, hey I may even throw a party.

Pescado's phone hack and autoyak hacks are broken as far as Nightlife is concerned ... at least they are until he updates them by buying the d*** game himself :(

However if you have just the base game and/or University then all the goodness of Fishman hackage is available to you at www.moreawesomethanyou.com ...

Thanks for this link. I've heard of Pescado but didnt know where to find his work. Maybe when I get more courage I'll do more with the file than just down load it! Just out of curiosity, do you have this hack or any other hacks installed? I'm a newbie when it comes to hacks and just want to be careful.

Pescado's hacks are all safe. They all come with clear names so that you can easily find them if you decide you want to do without one of more of them. They are quite simple to install and unistall. All you have to do is place them in the folder called 'Downloads' in your My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\ folder ... if you haven't got one just make one. I keep all my Pescado hacks in separate sub-folder called 'pescado' inside my Downloads folder. That way I can removed them all at once nany time I want to.

The name 'hack' is slightly misleading in my opinion. Pescado's little packages of goodness are simply well tested and intelligently thought out modifications to the game's standard behaviours. For example: the phone hack allows you to set how many rings the phone makes before the caller gives up - by default this is 20 times but the phone hack gives you the choice of 5, 10, 15 or 20 ... or even turn the ringer off! Plus lots lots more.

Mirelly, I'm a big fat chicken about using hacks, even Pescado's.

I'm worried they'll slow my game down, and it's getting slow already now that I have more sims and some downloads. I need more RAM, but can't afford it right now.

Do hacks have any effect on game speed? And which ones (that work with NL) can't you do without? I was thinking of trying fight club, only because I hate it when wimpy sims beat tough ones in fights. Unless you're really lucky that just doesn't happen ...

I have no desire to use Merola's painting or the tombstone of L&D. I like the game just fine without that. (I don't think they're by Pescado, anyway.)

But I would like the no crybaby thing, for example. It's annoying when they cry after every bad interaction, especially when I'm trying to pick a fight. :D

The one hack I wouldn't be without is the manual navigation hack. It enables you to cue orders and not see most of the intermediate ones vaporise as though they were never given. The most frustrating of these is "run to there" and then "do this". They start to run and then stop to do whatever you ordered. If it involves something (or someone) that is over 'there' ... tough! They just walk to it. Gah!!! Manual navigation works with NL and no pescado mods slow the game down. Most of 'em speed it up!

That phone is a bit annoying, isn't it? I miss Pescado's phone, autoyak, manual navigation, and no plagarism hacks. I miss quite a few more, but can't think of them all now.

I would never have my sims write novels before as I always turned the ringers off and didn't want to miss the "publisher" calling to tell me how much it got sold for. Now that I don't use the phone hack, or any for that matter, I decided to write that novel. However, when my sim, Lamberto, finally finished it, the phone rang, Danya picked it up, and SHE got the memory of writing a great novel. *Ugh* WHICH is why I remember liking the no plagarism hack.
