Not sad at all. Greek mythology is fascinating. I remember being in 6th grade and drawing pictures of Andromeda chained to the rock waiting to be eaten by the sea monster. I know, I'm late to this thread!
It sorta ruins the cool goth image when you say that you're actually goth. You're supposed to say, "No, I'm not goth, I'm just an individual!" I loved that myth where Andromeda is chained to the rock...who saved her? Perseus? Heracles? I don't remember anymore...
I have a bunch of goofy names in my town. Baxter Butthead, Edgar and Emily Egghead, Peter Pan, Willy Wowser, Drew Degenerate, Rhonda Reeks, Goody Gumdrops, Cherry Flavor, Bobby Boogaloo, Cocoa Puffs, David Doofus, Barbara and Billy Blob, Harry and Henry Hardass, the Golddigger sisters (Gloria, Gretchen, and Gail) , Sylvester Slick, Mary Contrary, the Slut Sisters (Selena and Serena), and Tom Thumb amongst others.
Ahhhh, don't get me started on "Friends". My favorite Sitcom of all time. I know every episode by heart! Remember all the times that they celebrated Rachel's birthday? Those episodes always aired on or around my birthday, and she'd always be the same age I am. I thought that was hillarious.
I love Friends. Pretty strange that I only got into it when it was over. . I was off school yesterday, ill. I finished a book I was reading for the billionth time, then spent the rest of the day vegetating in bed watching Friends. When I watched the episode when Rachel has baby Emma ( !) and she was handed to Rachel, I was amazed at how this little thing had grown inside her all this time. It's truly fantastic. I'm getting broody - and I'm only fourteen! Don't worry kids - I won't do anything stupid.
RE: Funny Names I have mentioned this in another thread about family themes, but will mention them here, too. -Jaune Jaquet (female adult. Jaune is french for yellow. She was born Yellow Jaquet, but was teased, an d changed her name when she was a teen.) -Strait Jaquet (male adult. Jaune's husband.) Can't think of any other ones off the top of my head.
Since we're on the subject of Friends, what do you think of the spin-off Joey? Any good? I've only seen ads and clips of it but I didn't think it looked very good, which is really ironic since Joey was a bad actor in Friends
I was really disapointed in it. Poor Joey! He's just not as sweet without all his buddies around. I think the real magic in that show was the chemistry between the characters. I really like the lady who plays his sister, too, since I am a Sopranos fan, and I really wanted the show to work.
For some reason, the entertainment business isn't creative enough to come up with new stuff, so they resort to making sequels and spin-offs. Kristalrose is right. IMHO, they rarely capture the original's "magic", and many times, they ruin the plotline. Imagine a sequel to Titanic! Joey seems so different from the original show, that it makes it almost hard to remember that it is a spin-off. It is entertaining for a while, but without the original cast, the whole spark is just gone. For a spin-off, I think it's pretty good...
I haven't played that neighborhood with the goofy names for a long time. I went back this morning and played it for a while and found some of the other names I had forgotten. I knew there were more. Jhonny Justaintright, Cookie Crumbs, Lydia Lust, Candy Cane, Wanda and Wally Wannabe, Harvey Hunk, Sammy Slob, Sara Lee, Danny Deranged, Donna Doesntdoblondes, and Betty Crocker.
I had one before my computer upgrade (and before the whole game crashed again before the upgrade) called... Rich Wedbait.
Although Holy Mackerel and Ceramic Tuna Fish always make me laugh out loud (aka: lol). Actually, so does Miso Curious
Oh my gosh Ace! Those are too funny!!! My favs I have seen the names Sara Lee and Betty Crocker on products all my life, but when you think of them as actual "names" for people they are funny. LOL
