Open for business EP Do you think it will be possible for sim to own and run a daycare with the new EP?
Sounds like a good idea. I don't really know much about the new stuff it will add to the game, but I have seen hacks that allow you to run a Sim prison and school, so even if running a daycare centre wasn't made possible by the EP, maybe someone within the Sims comunity could do it?
I would worry that it would cause problems, like sims not being able to get their kids back ... until toddlers can visit places with their parents I'd be wary of trying such a hack. Just my two cents. What are some other businesses people would like to see? I'd love it if there could be a new "home business" track. You know, brew your own "juice", raise bees, knit stuff for sale ... advancement would depend on your sim actually mastering a skill, like "not getting stung." Top of the range could be something lucrative, like making really nice furniture or something like that. And I would love a beauty parlor, especially if it let me make over the townies. I've tried to do that in my own game but I keep getting bored with the whole process. First, she has to befriend them, then they have to move in, and then they're playable (which I don't really want) so I have to move them into their own little starter homes and then forget all about them ... Of course, if I made all NPCs playable they could then die of old age and their kids could become the new NPCs ... hmmm ... that's a thought. Oops. Sorry. Thread bandit strikes again.
Thread bandit? Anyway, I agree with those ideas, SBW. I loved the money-making home-business items in Unleashed, especially the crops they could grow, apart from the bloody rabbits who dug them up!:bunny: Hey, what about a new death or sickness caused by bee stings? It would stop neighbours stealing the honey, anyway! I'd like to see things like car showrooms - may be a bit mundane, but you could make a lot of money, and to be a successful salesperson you would have to have high Charisma/Creativity skills. And an art gallery would be good, too, so the talented Sims could sell paintings to rich and snooty art collector Sims .
I always seem to get threads off track, hence the self-appointed title. Kristalrose and I share it ... How about having sims running things the game already has as businesses, like stores, restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores ... that would be cool, I think. Farming would be challenging, too ... how about an art/music school? You could boost NPC's creativity points so people might actually enjoy hearing them play instruments in public.
(Thread Bandit Two To Thread Bandit One. . . go download Merola's Mind Control Mirror. You can click on the townies, make them playable long enough to do their makeovers, then send them on their way. ) Okay, back to our original programming. During the opening movie on the game, there's a scene that always resembles a day-care to me, Play. The one with all the toddlers fighting over toys and making messes and the adults around them going into aspriation failure. I always wondered if maybe there wasn't a Day Care in the long-term plans for TS2. As to what I am looking for in a home based business: I think that they did a lot of that in the first game. Remember the woodbench? How many of us made stupid gnomes and gargoyles? I really did like gardening. I had a farmer named Kit Carson and a farming family, the Patriarch being John Deere. But, truthfully, I'm not that pumped up about O4B EP yet. I'm like my bandit partner, I want to see a family EP with more items and interactions with babies and toddlers. I thought of one for high-energy toddlers last night, SBW. They should be able to take a walking toddler to a community lot. Toddler makes a game of running around a crowded store, while an exasperated Momma gives chase, trying not to trample people who get in her way. (Why do people do that? If someone's toddler got away from them and was running past me, I'd either try to stall the child, or at least, clear a path so Momma could get the child quicker and with less emberasment. People as just as stupid as Sims sometimes!)
With Merola's MCM, the townies, after being controlled for a few minutes, just leave the lot, so if you didn't get them to do enough, you have to invite them over again...and again...but for some reason my game is glitchy and the objects I download don't show up. All of the CAS things I downloaded show up, but not the objects. And I loved that little wood workbench! I would fill up the whole house and yard with little gnomes, and when I get Makin' Magic there'd be little green and red things running around everywhere. I loved watching them get drunk in the grape-smusher thing. But I didn't know there was an option to make gargoyles...was there really?
As far as I remember, you only got the option to make the wooden gargoyles if you had the Makin' Magic EP. Otherwise, you could only make gnomes.
