A lesson in pausing your game Hi, I've been a lurker for a long while and finally decided to register and pop my head in. Anyway I was inspired to post due to being extremely annoyed with myself after a major mess up this afternoon.... I had been playing my favourite Sim family (Devon and Milo Monty) for a long time with the goal of fulfilling their life wants. I was ONE career step away from Devon becoming Chief of medical staff and a chance card box had just popped up when I was called away from my laptop. Thinking it would be okay to just leave it up for a minute (I hadn't decided what option to pick yet) I went. However I got caught up for longer than expected and when I came back the house was silent and the Live Mode option was disabled. Not realising what had happened I decided to go back to the Neighbourhood and said YES to saving. I starved my two favourite sims to death and then saved it. Can't get anymore stupid than that! I was SO annoyed and kinda upset (which is worrying...I must admit) Anyway thought you might like to hear my woeful story.
I'm hoping you have Uni and those Sims had Paranormal friends... Otherwise that's terrible. I can't imagine anyone in my neighborhood meeting that fate...:(
Oh my. Either you were gone for quite a while, your sims were already needing food or you were on fast-speed. Having a sim die unexpectedly due starvation is quite the shocker.. I've had that happen a couple of times when I've decided to either leave a pop-up on (like yourself) on 3-speed... or my sims were poor and unhappy enough that they couldn't afford food and wouldn't go to work to get money.
Oh bummer. Something like that happened to me but. my game just froze i was so annoyed i had been playing a household at uni for ages just about to finish their softmore year. I had wroked so hard to get the majors up and stuff and then it FROZE!!!!!! so annoying. I never leave my sims unattened like even if its on slow mode.
Nope, no uni...just Nightlife unfortunately so they're gone for good. Not only was it on fast speed, I also had free will turned off, so they had no chance, poor guys. :(
Something like that happened to my brother. He was trying to make a girl get bitten by another of his vampire sims named Jennifer. The active sim, I forget what he named her, but let's say her name is Allison for all intents and purposes. So anyway, he got Allison to invite Jennifer over, and he was just sitting there, waiting for her to bite Allison. Now something weird happened. He happens to be the kind of player who just wants to achieve things and doesn't really care for enjoying the time it takes for the sims to achieve things. So all day he'd have the game on ultra speed, maxing all of Allison's (a knowledge sim) skills and such. So when Jennifer was over, suddenly the game like slows down, slower than the regular speed. Everytime something moves, you can see the separate pixels like all over the place. So he was freaking out, and he tried clicking the ultra speed button thing. It became green, but everything was still all slow and messed up. I suggested making Allison go downtown, but by the time he got there it was daylight and Jennifer was all burned up. Now she's a very angry ghost (vampires make the worst ghosts since they obviously die from burn-ation) and my brother has dubbed Sims 2 a stupid game. At least he doesn't hog the computer anymore.
So, some good came of all that, huh. I"m a pause-a-holic. I never leave my sims unattended. If my game ever implodes I'll probably need therapy.
Well I just spent ages building a new house for Milo and Devon 2 and it crashed. Am this close to throwing computer out of the window
Mimi, my dear, don't throw the computer out just yet. If you have Nightlife, then I think (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) that you have the resurect-o-nomitron thing in your game as well. Look through your career rewards and see if there's a creepy stone pedastool with a phone on it. If so, there's a cheat that you can do to give you access to all the career rewards. I can't remember what the cheat is right now, I'm at work and can't access most of the Sim Websites, but you can go to snooty sims and check it out. Orrr, if you can't get the resurect-callgrimmy-thing, then do the same thing I did in this thread, Pre-Uni: http://forums.worldsims.org/showthread.php?t=4311 1) Use the "boolprop testingcheatsenabled true" cheat 2) spawn the "Tombsone of L and D" 3) Click on the tombstone to move in a neighbor, and choose both your sims. 4) Move them out, use the new Nightlife money cheat to give them enough funds to move back into their fabulous house. Now, I used SimPE to remove the death tokens from the sim and all her family and friends. I don't know, with the tombstone, if that is really necessary. It might be. Or, it might be something that has been changed since UNI or NL were released. But, hey, it's worth a shot. And next time, pause your game.
*Corrects you* That thingy is the career reward of the Paranormal track that came with UNI. Maybe you were thinking of when J.M.P said it could be enabled in a hack?
