A warning to all you vampires out there

My favorite vampire, Spike, visited his grandson and due to an obsession with the stupid bubble blower ended up staying after the sun came up. I kept trying to distract him and after he got up from the bubble blower instead of running off screaming he first went into the house to check on the kid.

When I went to play him, mostly to find out if he was OK, he wasn't. I had to hasten him to the energizer machine as everything was headed to the orange.

So, if you have vampires and they are likely to visit your other sims, invite them over really early, get the "no hassle baby" hack from Pescado (which I downloaded afterwards) and don't buy a bubble blower or a swing set. It's almost impossible to get them off of those two devices ... and if you do have them, just leave 'em to it. They'll get up and run off on their own.

And afterwards, go and play them to make sure they're OK. I make a point of always saving my vamp lots at night, just in case.

    Whew. Can't lose Spikey ...

Shew!! Poor Spike!! Glad he survived his near-death experience.

Since you are enjoying JMP's hacks, have you tried "No bogarting Swings?" It keeps adult sims from using the swings, cutting down their obsession of it. I use it. :)

Is this something that is limited to vampires? That is, the needs being affected while the Sim is a visitor to another house? I mean, I know Sims' needs will decay when they are visitors, and they will leave the lot when a need reaches critical levels... but when I load them back up in their own house, the needs are always exactly as they were when I last saved that house. I haven't played with vampires yet - does their need decay as visitors carry back over to their home lot?

I was told it shouldn't happen, but it's happened to me twice now. It's apparently random, and only when you invite a sim over. If they just appear on the lot in the daytime without being invited; for example, to tip over your garbage can, they don't seem affected once you return to their lot.

I don't know if it will happen to everyone but if you care about your vamps it can't hurt to check. If it happened two or three times without your replenishing them it might be too late by the time you play them again ...

Humm, I've never had that happen to my Vampires. I've even tried calling them at 6 o'clock and they shreik at me and complain about the sun.

I can confirm that this can, indeed happen: A vampire asleep in its coffin can inherit the "I'M ON FIRE!" motive decay left over from when it was last seen fleeing from the sun, and thus immediately start bleeding energy out until it becomes too tired to stay in its coffin, pop out, pass out, die.

A fix is currently available for this as part of the Vampire Fix pack.

I just think it's really stupid that a sim gets too tired to go to bed. Really, really stupid.

It's not supposed to happen. Normally when a sim goes to bed, energy starts going up instead of down, so the sim can't energy-failure. However, when a malfunction occurs like so, a sim will drop to -100 energy and then be forced to quit his current interaction to pass out. And thus your sim drops dead.

So, your hack fixes the reverse coffin syndrome? I assume that's what you were talking about. I had to quit without saving and move a vampire to another lot because his coffin was draining rather than adding to his energy levels.

I already had your hack when Spike had the energy drain due to visiting his grandson, so I assume that's not one of the things you fixed.

I can control it, of course, but I've gotten mighty paranoid about my favorite vampires. Playing them is occasionally nervewracking because I'm not sure if they'll hit a glitch, like not being able to use their coffin anymore.

I already had to change one vampire back because of that one.
