A few OFB questions I bought and installed OFB yesterday (woo!) and with new games comes lots of new questions. Servos: I read a thread here about you needing to by a mechanic box and work really hard with it. My question is, how hard do you have to work till you get a badge and can make servos? Any quicker way of getting them? (yeah, I'm lazy and like to cheat. ) Also, can you sell servos once you've made them? I guess you can if you can sell basically anything else. OK, I answered my own question there. Getting kites works in the same way as servos, I believe? I'm loving OFB a lot, I can't believe I didn't buy it before. Hmm, you know what, I think I'm going to continue working on that flower shop now and watch Florence struggle with the till...
Making a servo takes a lot of hours and needs a gold robotics badge. Or you can enable dubug mode (boolprop) and shift click ... spawn ... new servo. Kites is a silver badge (woodwork) item ... yeah, wooden kites, right ...
thanks Mirelly. One last question, how do you promote your employees to managers? (The game tips said something about managers but I didn't really pay much attention to it at the time, hehe. Silly me.)
You get the manager option appear when the employee reaches a certain skill level (badges). Don't appoint a manager for a shop selling crafted goods. You have to have the owner present for the shop to work so there's no point appointing a manager.
Okee-doke. To me it seems kind of weird to make other employees managers because isn't the owner of the shop the manager? Anyway, thanks for the reply. 'Preciate it!
A manager can run the store while the owner is not there. However, if you're running a store that has items like kites and robots, the manager can't restock by himself/herself. The owner needs to be present so that the employees can draw from the owner's inventory. Oh, and a word of advice, since you're new to OFB--if you have a store owner who's an elder and getting ready to die, you need to empty their inventory at home and put the items in their closest family member's inventory. If you don't, when the sim dies and passes on the deed to the business, that's all your sim will get.
Oh, thanks for that Kristal. I'll keep that in mind. It so happens that I have two elders running a rather successful bakery.
