Another Question: Anyone Taking Requests for Hair Recolors?

I'm sure this isn't the right place and someone will move this post, but anyway. . .

My son wants a hot-pink pigtails hairstyle for a sim he is making. He'd really like it to have cat-ears like some anime charector on some show I can't even pronounce. He and I have been looking all over the place online. We can find the ears. We can't really find the hair. He hasn't been real enthused about anything we find that I think is "close". I guess it's just not fitting up to his mental picture. So, anyway, anyone feeling like helping the kid out? Thanks. :D

Thanks Michelle! :) I found the pink pigtails he was looking for, and he can do without the freaky cat-ears.

Dang, Michelle! There you go again with those great download sites!!! How am I ever gonna cope with all these new clothes? :p

    You Know What's Sad?

I downloaded JMP's "Directors Cut" Hack package, which looked like all of the hacks he has ever made. Since I didn't know exactly what I had, and since there are a few of his hacks that I don't want because I don't want to take those aspects out of gameplay, I ran the Clean Installer. Did you know that there's a limit to how many files it would read? I have so many files in my download folder that it reached that limit and gave me an error message!!! LOL

I guess I need to clean out again before I start downloading more stuff. :(

And you're probably wondering why your loading times are pretendous, too....

What's the point in having a gazillion downloads merely to have pretendous loading times? You can't POSSIBLY *USE* them all.....why not just install only the ones you plan to have a sim actually use?

Oh, Pescado! Are you really that innocent? Downloading stuff for sims is the virtual equivalent of shopping. It's a girl thing. Get over it. Having exploding closets is mostly just a dream for us shopaholics; having problems with overstuffed download folders is not an annoyance it is a cause for wry amusement!

Now why do I have the impression that there is no Mrs Pescado (with armoires stuffed to bursting with frilly and unnecessary apparel) in your spartan-like built-to-military-specification fortress? :p

    Okay, here is what I need, great TS2 Mod-God. . .

I need a way to check what items are being in use or residing in an armoire in a house somewhere and be able to see the item, be it article of clothing, genetics, recolors, what have you. I need to see it and say, "Do I use this? Will I use this?" and figure out what my son is also using.

We share the computer, he has a neighborhood, I have a neighborhood. His neighborhood is Strangetown and he populates it with odd creatures with pink pigtails and yellow skin and purple eyes and miss-matched clothes that looks like some sort of anime nightmare to me. My Sims look realistic, have stylish hair and clothes, and tastefully decorated country homes. I would never have red appliances in my kitchen, my son would have them in every kitchen and color-coordinate them with the yellow-and-blue counters and some sort of odd multi-colored tile. But if I clean out something that I don't like, I am very likely deleting his.

We have Windows XP, so it would be nothing for me to make a copy of his neighborhood files and my download files and transfer them over to his "My Documents" folder. I just thought of that. LOL But still, I need to see what I am cleaning out and what I am using. I have SO MUCH, I might forget.

You have any tips, JMP. You know how much I repect your Sims-knowledge. Because of you, my Romance Sim in college now has about 12 boyfriends, and my Sims no longer stop an important job to run out to look at the new-shiny chair I just placed on their porch!!! (bats eyelashes and covers lips protectfully. ;) )

For starters, I would suggest you seperate your game into seperate accounts in Windoze XP. That way, nothing you do to your game will affect his. Simply create him his own frickin' account, then copy the EAGAME~1 tree into his documents folder and he can have his own.

Then, start nuking. The easiest way is to simply start cleaning from inside the game. The custom content you see in the buy-menu and Sim-CAS can all be purged simply by choosing it, then clicking on the Trashcan icon. If it can be deleted, it will be there and let you torch the thing. You can simply trash all the unused garbage from in-game.

Thanks JMP. :) I made a copy of his neighborhood and the downloads folder and put it on his XP account yesterday. He was really excited about that, espeically when he saw how the load-time was cut almost in half just with that one action. Then I started cleaning out, which I'm going to talk about in the other thread. Getting rid of all his odd colored hair, eye, and skin-tones will make a huge amount of diffrence. :)

No kidding! At least I'd already found Parsimonious Sims, so I won't be tempted to go there right now. (I'm getting ready to go camping this weekend and I've got a lot to do before we go. For some reason my husband doesn't want me spending *all* my time doing TS2 related stuff. I can't imagine why.)

Besides, if you get behind on your downloading, when you *do* need something for that specific purpose, it takes *far* too long (especially if you are on dialup like I am!)

So, I download the things I like and when I feel that a specific thing is needed I have only to go through my own files, which are already just things I've liked, to find it, rather than site, after site, after site....

And like I said in another thread, I'm not putting some of the things in the game yet. But when I feel like doing so, the really hard part (all the downloading) will already be done.

Besides, it's cheaper and more space efficient than trying to fit more physical clothes into my already bulging closets, armoires, captain's bed drawers, racks of 66 quart totes, etc. My pocket book and husband appreciate that!

Of course, it would be nice if we had a resident hair stylist on this forum. It's nice to find those extra sites, but it would be nice to be able to request things as well. (So Kristal's child could have his pink pigtails *and* the cute little ears.)

By the way, I know that there are some "anime Sims" sites out there. I'm not fond of anime, so I don't have the URLs handy. But I keep accidently running into them. You might want to do a web search for anime and TS2.

One place where I did see something of that sort was on MTS2. They have a section for anime Sims. (I didn't look to see what they had, as it's not my thing, but I saw it when I was looking for something else.)

Yep, I saw those at MTS2. I showed them to him and he said that was the right Anime show, but the wrong style. He wanted pink pigtails. He's very happy now, BTW.

Okay, I just finished a complete clean-out. You know what was clogging up my downloads? It wasn't objects like I feared. It was eye colors, hair, and homecrafter files!! Does anyone else find something they like, say, an eye color, that comes in a zip file with 30 other shades, and they never use the other shades? Or, have 100 diffrent hairstyles, many from the days before the game actually was released, when we were playing with Body Shop and complaining because we only had 3 or 4 hairstyles to choose from? So we downloaded weird crap that never looked good because at least it was different? That's what I had done, anyway.

OK, I know this thread is like, so over, but I just wanted to say, you're evil SuiteMichelle ... I just got my hard drive cleaned out and now you tell me about parsimonius ...

I'm going to need to buy that second hard drive asap. :p

And yes, JMP, it is a girl thing. No one can ever have too many clothes.
